Good question. Yes, it appears when the doors are closed and the key fab is not close to the vehicle.
Just to be clear I am referring to this icon.
Jeep Wrangler JL Press Clutch and Push Button to Start 05786210-0B0D-4374-BC56-B968F9D578EB

Try this, unplug the doors and see if it goes to “sleep” as soon as you turn it off.

So the door icon will go away once I close the door but the “press clutch…” message remains. What do you mean by “unplug the doors?”

Disconnect them like you are going to take the doors off. The plug located in the kick panel.

It could be a faulty door switch… I agree, unplug all the doors. When the doors are unplugged, it bypasses the door switches.

there are two switches on the clutch pedal. One is mounted to the master cylinder. One is mounted on the clutch pedal. I would visually check both of these.

I disconnected the terminals from the main battery and left it disconnected for about 30 minutes. Once I put them back on, I started and stopped the Jeep and the light went away. I restarted and stopped the Jeep again and the light has remained off as it should. I’m crossing my fingers that it persists!

Thanks for all the advice!!

Great news ! , You think the dealer would at least try that simple fix. Hope it continues to work properly for you.

Fantastic... It's unfortunate you wasted time at the dealer but I hope this solves it for you.

It turns out that the light was only temporarily off… unfortunately it’s back. Ugh….
Sorry to hear that... It is easy to disassemble the dash where the start button is, I would take it apart and check the connections/wires leading to your switch as well as examine if the switch is not stuck or there is no some small debris in a way or some metal causing the power shortening... Just some shots in the night, but who knows... Keep us posted...

Sounds like we are in the same unfortunate boat. Sorry to hear this for you. Thanks for keeping me posted with what Jeep uncovers for you. I’ll do the same.
Latest updates: I was told after pulling/testing modules - they all check out as 'working as expected'. So they eliminated its a 'module' issue. Next I was asked about (tinted windows).
This whole shi*storm started a few hours after I tinted the two front windows. My dealer/tech hypothosized that maybe water used during the tinting process leaked inside the doors causing an issue w/the contacts...? Really! I small of amount of water got inside two brand new doors and wreacked total havoc on the dash display?? I thought Jeeps were made to get wet!?
So today, they are pulling apart both doors in hopes that this is the issue.
In my opinion, again, they have zero clue as to what is happening. If, I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
Another point is: why is this happening to other people that didn't have tinting done...??

Crazy! My Wrangler does not have currently have tinted windows and the problem exists for me as well. What a saga! My vehicle is currently at the dealership and they are doing exploration, but nothing has been resolved yet. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks again.

The Jeep is back home, was told they double - tripled - checked for the dash display issue. They also replaced my battery- which was good thinking on their part.
So far so good - dash display is not staying on…..hoping for the best that this was an anomaly and won’t repeat.

That’s a load of crap. Just disconnect the doors and test!
