I took full responsibility for the second leak. Happened the minute I added extra fluid to perform an engine flush.
I do believe 99.9% is an exaggeration on oil cooler. In fact I replaced mine based on those posts. It wasn’t actually bad at 78k.
1. Mud filled my clutch and prevented it from working.
2. The engine ended up having phaser actuator issues at the exact same time.
3. Cleaning involved:
Removing the front grill
Removing all wheels
Removing all fender flares
Dropping the gas tank
Removal of every skid plate
Hours of sprinklers...
I believe it came thru the seal itself. If you zoom in you can see a nice drip. Lots of oil around the starter as well. Also puddles of oil in the bell housing.
That said, I didn’t feel or see any damage on the seal.
I think the oil was flung to the sides of the bell housing…
Purchased my 2018 with 40,000 miles. Noticed oil dripping between the bell housing and engine.
Eventually replaced the seal while replacing the clutch. Dry as a bone until I added a flush to the oil trying to resolve a rough idle issue (VVL or VVT). The seal blew during the 20 min I ran the...
Please tell me more about this!! I think I have clogging issues that is on/off. I tried a flush, I have tried lower viscosity oil. Thank you! VVL and VVT seem to work perfect, or just slightly off... not far enough off to throw a code.
I have been thru this quite extensively:
Notes:
1. 33's are ok on 3.45 but not great. No 6th gear for sure. But the real issue was off-road. You just can't go slow enough to climb any obstacle without slipping the clutch, and the stock clutch hates to be slipped. But 33's were not terrible...
This document is amazing and teaches about the VVL System.
Tips from the document:
If the o-rings are damaged on any of the 4 VVL solenoids, this can cause them to not open or close.
Low Lift: The pressurized oil pushes against the springs in the lock pins forcing the pins to retract...
I have a history here....
I have a previous post about a poor running engine. Very Similar

Tip 1: Buy J-scan and a bluetooth adapter. There is a feature called...
Quick question: Manual Transmission 3.6.
-I replaced my rear main seal about 20k miles ago. The fix worked.
- Due to some VVL / VVT issues I used an engine flush a few thousand miles ago.
After the flush, I noticed oil at the access holes under the bell housing. I assumed that the Rear...
Please also check wheel balance. Wheels out of balance can absolutely cause a wobble or death wobble in a Jeep.
Also we should define death wobble:
death wobble is an event that occurs while driving at highway that does not stop until you slow down to say 20 mph. The shaking gets worse until...
@jellis4148 Were yours stock or aftermarket?
Cliff Hanger was a challenge for me. A bit too much for my 35's. But I did Hells, Fins, Trifecta (poison, golden spike, gold bar rim), Metal Masher, Steel Bender, Top of the World.
But... the stock sliders were rarely used. I am not against good...
Rock sliders prevent rocker panel damage (from the bottom) , but also can prevent door damage.
Trying to loop around a huge rock that fits between the front and rear axle could present an opportunity to smash your door. The stock rock slider does not help with door protection.
Wheel poke is...
I have been thru Cliff Hanger at Moab. Been all over the country. The stock ones have worked phenomenal for me. Mostly because they are not touched. I have used them 3-4 times, but mostly I have so much clearance, they are not used. My buddy with Poison Spider uses his all the time, but they...
