I would definitely do something about that.

Why so rusty? Do you live near the beach or drive on salty mountain roads in the winter?

Like what?

Go at it with a wire brush? Refinish the surface with a rust inhibitor?

Request warranty (little less than 3 years old) corrosion coverage?

I do live in a coastal area but I never see this kind of surface rust anything this quickly (34 months).

And nothing else underneath looks like this. The surface rust is limited to just these components.

Definitely take a shot with the dealership, just keep expectations low……. If they tell you to pound sand , then yeah, I would clean it up the best you can and coat it with some rust prevention……. Don’t think I would just do nothing, my ocd would not allow it……?

You have irrigation on a well? You are right to point out that it’s the only area corroding…but the axle, drag link and tie bar are not all one piece so makes me think something is spraying on that spot and often. I agree with the others, it’s excessive for the JL…now the YJ. that’s a different story.

It looks to be from driving, like road salt or brine by the way its on the front edge of everything. I have a 2020 in the Northeast and it looks much better.

If you like to drive in the water on the beach this will happen, and worse over time. It can also happen if you like plating in the mud.

Just hit it with fluid film and it won't get any worse.

For me, I'd have to try to knock some of that off with a wire brush first, then treat it to hopefully keep it from returning.

Thanks, I drive near the beach but have never taken it on the sand or in the water. I’ve only gone mudding once about a year ago and rinsed the underneath pretty well a couple days later. Other than that, I never wash or rinse that area.

I’ll update with my progress
