JL Steering Box Adjustment

Does anyone know where the steering box adjustment is on the JL? Here are some references to it on the JK, but I can't find any on the JL. Thanks for any help.

What kind of problems are you experiencing? I have a JLU Rubicon and it has an excessive amount of play in the steering wheel causing it to wander on the road. My dealer has ordered a new steering gear box and it should be here by the end of the month...I'm hoping that will solve my steering problem.

Same problem, excessive play and wandering. Did your dealer try to adjust the steering box first before ordering a new one? I've seen the videos for how to adjust it on a JK. If I can just find out where it is on a JL, I could make the same adjustment. If the adjustment doesn't have the desired result, I can adjust it back to the original position.

My JLUR with 700 miles seems to have trouble tracking straight, I've read that steering improves with miles and "it's just a wrangle thing", not sure what to think.

If I can just find out where it is on a JL, I could make the same adjustment. If the adjustment doesn't have the desired result, I can adjust it back to the original position.

My dealer kept it for a week due to the Check Engine Light staying on and also the steering...I'm sure if there was an adjustment on the gear box they would have done it. You need to take it back to the dealer and see what they can do. Just tell them its not right and its not a Jeep thing. I don't know how your drives but mine is excessive...I took mine on a 800 mile round trip and it wore me out driving it! My 2013 10th Anniversary Rubicon with lift and being a two-door steered excellent...so did several other JK's I've owned in the past. Go back to your dealer...

If its excessive...its not a Wrangler thing. Take it back to your dealer and tell him your not satisfied...

We keeping hearing of 2 issues, wandering all over and steering locking up and unable to turn.

The new JL got a new electric steering control I believe, and it all feeds back to a computer. It kinda sounds like the computer is trying to fight off death wobble/sloppy play and then in the lock up case the program cant figure out what to do (hopefuly that part of the problem gets patched soon)

IT will be interesting to see how much the computer (and feedback to computer) is adding into the equation, I am willing to bet the people getting "improvements to handling" by adding anafermarket steering stabilizer, are simply changing feedback to computer enough that its behavior becomes more what we want.


In any event, its going to be a couple of fixes including software that resolves this mess (obviously a guess, till we find out more, but hoping the best for you all)

The steering on my JLUR is now 100% better...I can drive it down the road and not worry about which side of the lane I'm supposed to be in. I just picked up my Jeep today and my dealer replaced the Steering Gear Box...that seemed to have corrected the dart, drift, and/or wander problem. Hopefully, my next dealer visit will be for my free oil change and tire rotation...we will see!

My new JLU Rubicon wanders pretty badly while driving it since I got it with only 13 miles on it. It has 100 miles on it now and is going back to the dealer this week to get it checked out. I'll post the diagnosis when I find out more.

You took it back to them a 3rd time for the same issue? What did they say the first 2 times? And did they give you an estimate on when it would be available?
