Card carrying "club Med(icare)" member here. Acrobatic airplanes, dirtbikes, and thousands of miles on horses, seems to have a toll. I can't even walk down the hallway without rattling like a bag o bones. Just like Rice Crispies... snap, crackle, pop.
WORD!!……..

Should hear my 2020 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder cold Start sounds like a dam tank for a min with all the ticks you can dream of I just accepted it and once warm it's like butter.
Yep. I had a 2019 Audi TTRS and she sounded like a ticking time bomb when i started her up. Let her warm and then let rip on the freeway and she sounded like she was supposed to sound. My 3.6 is exactly the same. She moans and groans but once i let the engine noise subside, i drove it like i stole it, all with a huge grin. I sometimes think certain Jeep people look for problems that arent there. if it isnt clanking once it has warmed up and it drives ok, why keep worrying about a number? I guess im just not that anal ?‍♀

I agree let her warm up and drive it no engine lights or mechanical failures just go out and wheel her engines are being built diffirent and sound and act diffirent no need for worry as long as you warm it up properly.

As has been mentioned previously, 26psi vs 29psi, statistically insignificant, especially when not based on accurate measuring equipment (going by the onboard oil pressure gauge, mine varies from 26 to 28 at idle). Nothing to worry about. As far as the noises you have, that I can't comment on, though I will say my 3.6 sounds worlds better than the 2.0 in both my wife's JLUSS and my daughter's JLW. To me, that motor sounds like a Singer sewing machine. No offense to those that like Singer sewing machines...or that engine... ;):like::LOL:

While I am not a fan of the start up rattle our 18 JLU has, I am told its normal. Ours rattles for less than a second and goes away. We just came back from vacation in the Gatlinburg area and while we were there we took 1 of the Pink Jeep tours and their Jeeps are on the JKU platform with lift and upgraded axles. They run those around town all day long and take them to a private offroad park at the end and have some fun. I was talking to the tour guide about the rigs and he said they routinely get 250,000 miles from their rigs with the previous version 3.6 engine in them. Gives me hope that my 18 JLU will last a very long time.

The noise I can live with as long as I can duplicate it on other jeeps, its the oil pressure I want to make sure is right. Mine is also a manual so it probably doesn't dampen these things out as well as an automatic that has a fluid filled torque converter.

I did just check current data on the scan tool and long term fuel trim was -1.6% which is good so I doubt there is engine wear, I also just got done talking to another guy at work who used to work for jeep for many years and said it's normal to see the oil pressure drop to 26 after idling a while so maybe it's normal.

Tech for toyota, not jeep.
Cool.
As a kid I always used to think being a Toyota, Nissan or Honda tech was like being the Maytag repairman... Nothing ever needed fixed.
And I mean that sincere.

FWIW my 3.6 startup ticking annoyed me at first. Changed to Royal Purple 5w-30 at 1,000 miles and the ticking is only a brief second or two now at startup. Don't ever look at the pressure so can't help there. Goes in for it's first free oil change at the Jeep dealer tomorrow. See what it sounds like after.

Old toyota's were that way, the new ones are complete crap and break constantly. The only new toyota I would buy is the 4runner because it still uses that reliable 4.0L. I'd still rather have the pentastar than the god awful new 3.5L they put in the new tacomas.
