First time Jeep owner here, I've noticed my JL throws rocks into itself quite often. I've never had a vehicle do this but I'm guessing it's a "Jeep thing." I have some side steps I'm getting ready to throw on and not sure if that will help. How about mud flaps? Any other suggestions? I cringe every time I hear a rock hit the side of the Jeep.

Yes, I have found more then a few rocks (gravel) that make there way into the cab with the windows open or even worse when the doors are off. The side steps (I have sliders) I think will add to that from reflections upwards. Mud flaps offroading would not work for me, they'd get torn off in no time.

I am so glad I did NOT get painted fenders as my rear fender are already well pitted. The Rubicon's All Terrains pick up lot's of gravel size rocks and either hold them for a few rotations or they're immediately thrown.

I've seen it, I'm looking for a more proactive solution to keep the rocks from shooting out of the wheel wells. May have to investigate the clear bra material until something better comes along unless there's something else. It's a very strange phenomenon.

So far so good with mine but I don’t get off road much just concrete highway for me, I am sure I will have a meltdown when I get my first chip in my painted fenders. I do have the stock mopar rails so hopefully that will help, also the stock tires don’t pick up much but when they need replacing I am going with something more aggressive

Me too. Just got mine and haven't taken it off road yet. The rocks have been an issue with normal around town and highway driving. I'm on stock rubber for now. I've seen some tires on some other JL Sport S models that look like they came off a Buick. Hopefully that's not the only solution!

Yeah, yeah I know. Hard for me to do that to a $50k vehicle. I don't mind making good use of it and off roading and all that. Just seems unnecessary for the thing to be slinging rocks into itself at 40MPH plus...

Sidesteps/rails help out a lot, as long as they go all the way up to the front fenders and are decently wide. They also help with shorter vehicles' doors hitting your jeep. You may also want to put some 3M film on those door hinges.

I wonder how many cracked windshields are caused by Wranglers throwing rocks onto other people's windshields. lol
Just like the dump trucks lol

as someone who drives many miles of gravel per day, I can tell you that fresh tires kick gravel up and the KO2's are particularly bad. But, the more you drive on gravel the less they pick up. No expert, but assume the rocks round out the tread blocks just a bit and hold less. I'd say after week 1 it gets better.

Wow did you get ripped off! 50K for a Sport? Your dealer has one hell of a sales force working for them!
Thanks for checking, but no I didn't get ripped off. I didn't pay $50k for my Jeep, speaking figuratively as many here have paid more than that for Sahara and Rubicon trims. I think mine stickered out at close to $45k.
