4:1 rock-trac worth adding for 2023 build?

I’m putting together my build, 2023 Rubicon fully loaded with extreme recon package, should I include the 4:1 rock trac transfer case that’s offered from the factory? Looking to do some off roading and overlanding, live in New England and plan to do some traveling out west where there are rocks, won’t be all the time so trying to figure out if I should add when I order?

Sorry, I see what you're talking about now. The full time 4wd transfer case. I ordered it on mine, but it's because we frequent the snow, and wanted the full time 4wd for that purpose, and for heavy mountain rain storms.

If you live in a dry climate, and mostly need it for offroading, then I wouldn't bother.

Keep in mind, the Rock Track use CV shafts instead of U-joints. So may be more susceptible to damage on the trail (ie: tearing a boot).

Being from New England, 4 auto would definitely be worth the money in the winter. If I lived anywhere with frequent snow and ice I wouldn't buy a wrangler without it.

I have it and live in Texas. Only use it in the rain, but it would have been a dream to have when I lived back in Michigan.

It’s not a necessity, especially if you are used to switching in and out of 4hi, but I think you’ll really like having it for when the roads get slick. I’ve never used it off road because I personally don’t see the point for what I’m doing (mostly rocks), but it may be useful in gravel or some of the higher speed stuff.

Im in California. I have it. I havent been in the snow yet but I use it often on dirt roads. I like it. I could live without it but Im glad I have it.

I live in Minnesota and I don't have it. Last winter I maybe used 4wd twice on the roads during snowy conditions. 2wd with traction control and the K02s actually did a very good job and surprised me. When I bought my Jeep I feel like there wasn't a lot of information about it at the time so I decided to pass on it.

I live in Utah, near the ski resorts, I don’t have it, and I didn’t use 4WD once this past winter. Jeep handles just fine in the snow with the KO2’s, I never felt the need.

If you don’t need it I wouldn’t get it. The CV boot front axle is susceptible just like all CV boot front vehicles. It’s funny the 392 comes with the CV boots and full time 4wd everybody wants to get rid it and the cv boots And get u joints and part-time four-wheel-drive.

I'm in Colorado and didn't order it due to the risk of tearing CV joints when rock crawling. As others have said: the KO2s are pretty amazing in snow.

If you're not planning on doing the more extreme rock crawling and live somewhere that gets lots of snow then it would probably be a good choice.

Last winter I was able to pull some sick snow donuts because I could keep my Jeep in 2WD. Much less fun if I were to have full time 4WD. Don't pay the premium, just pull the lever.
