Just now got a call from my salesman. Said he just spoke with an FCA rep who told him there are so many 2018s on dealer's lots that it will probably be a while before they begin building the 19 Wranglers. Maybe even January.
Again, for what its worth.
I will say that I have never seen so many wranglers on lots as there are now.
When I ordered my 13 JK,, there wasn't a wrangler around that I could test drive
I would consider an 18 but all the ones around are loaded up with stuff I don't want and don't have one of the features I want.
If they offered a decent rebate on the 18s, I might consider.

I can definitely agree with that statement. I have 3 dealerships near me and they all have tons of Wranglers on their lots. FCA should offer a better incentive program to move the 2018's.
Otherwise why would people buy an 18 car so late in a year with minimal incentive? Doesn't make sense. None of the dealers around me have any Rubicons which is why I had to order a 2019.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope the 2019 roll out soon.

Same here I couldn’t find a white JL with a colored matched top and all the features I wanted. Every time I found one the dealer that could possibly trade said it was already sold

I also looked at new JK's. Right now there are 115 brand new JKUs within 100 miles of me. All are the Golden Eagle model with dual tops.
Must have pushed a lot of those out at the end of the JK run. Quite a few 2 drs out there also.. Again, without the features I want.

I’m not able to understand the logic in what he says. Dealerships have a bunch of 2018s on their lots. OK. 2018 production has ended. So he’s saying that Jeep’s just going to stop building Jeeps (even though they’ve been selling as many as they can build) for maybe 2 months or more? Wouldn’t sales incentives and rebates work better than, you know, laying off a few thousand UAW workers for a couple of months?

In summary I don’t believe this is the case. I DO believe that salesman is trying to do what salesmen do - sell you what he’s got in hand right now rather than what you might want tomorrow.

I'm just passing on what was told to me.Nobody on this forum really seems to know when the 19s are going to start rolling off the lines.
I've bought lots of vehicles from these people and he never asked or suggested I buy one off the lot.
Would incentives help clear the lots? Sure, but Ive never seen one on a wrangler and they probably won't start now - but have never seen this much inventory
I did get a mailing offering 500 dollars off on an 18 but that's not much on 45 or 50 thousand so I'll just wait for my 19
Hope the substantial increase in production and sales this year doesn't hurt the wrangler's resale value.

Looking at historical sales figures, March through July seem to be peak months for Wrangler sales. So if the factory is running at the same pace to keep workers employed then some extra inventory on dealer lots makes sense.

It would be great to see some year end incentives to move stock but i'm sure it wouldn't apply to the 2019 I have on order

I would guess if it FCA was thinking about delaying the process of building the 2019's, it would have to be a decision made with some months of advance notice, supplies/parts still coming in, have to do something with them. Store parts on site, or build Wranglers and store sellable units on dealer lots. But I'm just a guy waiting on a 2019 order, so I have no industry knowledge.

Now that's a salesman full of you know what. Can't blame him for trying though. All the more reason to produce 2019 customer orders before 2019 dealer stock. Let the dealers push the 2018s for those who can't wait.
