4K on a dash cam is insanity.Yep I have one in every car I own and I've had to use it a few times. Hopefully Blackvue gets their new dual 4k/1080p cam out before I take delivery of my Wrangler. Whenever people hear/see I have a camera their stupid response is always, "Why do you need one of those?" Morons.
No. 30fps, 7+ hours of recording on highest settings for both cameras:4K on a dash cam is insanity.
Not only will it be a low frame rate - but it will fill up a 128gb card rather quickly.
That's going to have a miserable bitrate and the footage is going to be shotty - legitimate 4k footage will fill a 128gb memory card rapidly.No. 30fps, 7+ hours of recording on highest setting.

What resolution do you need so that licence plates are readable?4K on a dash cam is insanity.

A solid 1080p/60 would be the sweet spot. More low light capability is crucial as well. I'd argue the new blackvue is a bit excessive.
Blackvue has samples of both their 1080p 60fps vs their 4k 30fps, you can tell the difference. The 4k is much cleaner. That's going to have a miserable bitrate and the footage is going to be shotty - legitimate 4k footage will fill a 128gb memory card rapidly.
These cameras have incredibly small sensors.
A clean 1080p/60 will pull legible license plates much better in my opinion.
Looks like you already answered my question. That's going to have a miserable bitrate and the footage is going to be shotty - legitimate 4k footage will fill a 128gb memory card rapidly.

And, not to mention, 7hrs is literally overnight if you have motion in front of the camera the entire time. IE: windy trees.No. 30fps, 7+ hours of recording on highest settings for both cameras:

I wouldn't trust their samples. They are a business that wants to sell. They will be the first large company to the 4k dash cam game. They tend to push all of their products before they are truly finalized to market.Blackvue has samples of both their 1080p 60fps vs their 4k 30fps, you can tell the difference. This definitely wasn't an argument.Whatever you say man, I won't clutter this thread anymore arguing with you.
