The example you posted has no relevance to what's going on here. @CarbonSteel is the most meticulous forum member I've seen when it comes to maintenance and monitoring the mechanical condition of his Jeep. We should be thanking him for showing us the vast width of the safety margin on this filter. Otherwise, we'd just be guessing. Instead, we get peace of mind when we're running one from 5k to 10k miles, knowing we're not stressing it in any way.
Let us all know how that motor is doing after 300,000 miles.

BTW, Merry Christmas to all!!

I'd hapily take a wager on that. I'd bet on his engine making it to 300k, with ease, before many others around here.

Besides that, Pentastars make it to that mark with 1 cylinder tied behind their backs.

And thanks and Merry Christmas, to you, too! You and everyone else on this forum are a bunch of great folks! I get so much enjoyment out of talking, sharing, bantering, and even debating with you! Most of all, I'm thankful for all the knowledge and help you guys dole out all the time on these great toys we all love!

This is a great forum for sure. And the bantering is just that. We all have different ways of maintaining our vehicles. Most of us are simply trying to get as much life as possible out of our vehicles.

And yes the dagone supply chain!! It took over a month and parts from the US, Italy and France to get my brothers scooter running. All because of a small 3.00 oil line failing.

Thank you Dan, Carbon, and all for welcoming me into this forum. My wife and I are still deciding what we will be getting for a 4wd vehicle.

Whatever you get, it'll be a blast! Keep us posted! So many great machines out there. Just like muscle cars, this is the golden age for capable 4wd machines!

Almost nobody is concerned with that. Some tiny fractional percentage of new vehicle purchasers will keep them that long. Even second owners rarely get there.

I haven't had that with the Wix XP filters I'm using. The one OEM filter that I removed was straight as well.
Another wix comes out straight today.

I run the wheels off of everything I own. Thus my maintenance is meticulous. I find it financially smart to keep what I have. That's just me though.....

Yep, I keep mine, too. My JK is pushing 170k now and is running perfectly. She'll get to 300 eventually, I'm sure.

Making the most of your means is important for most people. Defining what "the most" is, well, let's just say there's a lot of opinions.

Per the Tech Authority Service Manual, the JL has an main system overpressure relief valve set at 145 psi (since this fact is in the oil pump description, it implies this relief valve is within the oil pump assy). The oil filter bypass valve is located within the unserviceable "oil filter adapter", which also houses a water/oil pre-heater (FCA service manual labels as a cooler), and the pressure sensor. I couldn't find any pressure rating for the bypass.

BTW, if you happen to damage/crack your oil filter housing (not the cap), you're in for a lot of work to replace this assy. The upper/lower intake manifold has to come off.

Might as well knock out the spark plug change while in there. The intake has to come off for that, too.

To remove and replace plugs on the 3.6L, just remove the plug wires and pull the plugs. They're in the center of the cam covers like an old hemi.

To get to the oil filter housing/precooler, these have to come off.

No Fram Ultra filters at O'Reilly or Autozone. I was told to change the oil in my wife's Ford Flex. I looked in the garage for what filters I had. Nothing for her car. So, I went to the O'Reillys and nada, no Fram Ultras for any applications. In fact, nothing for her car in Wix XP or M1 either. No Ultras at all in Autozone. So, I got a M1 for her.

What retailers are carrying Fram Ultras?
