As a first time jeep owner (some day soon I hope) I can’t wait to wave!!That's where you're wrong, and he's right...
The wave started during the war, where soldiers would wave to each other as they drive by, rather than saluting. Once the war was nearing its end, and Jeep started selling civilian jeeps (CJs), the majority of buyers were those who fought because they grew to love them during the war. They continued the wave on the streets as a sign of recognition/respect for fellow soldiers. More and more civilians then bought jeeps, and picked up on the wave.
Fast forward 75+ years, and although some feel it's dying off, or stupid, I feel it's still a tribute to the origin of our vehicles, respect for those that fought our wars back then, (and even though Jeep isn't fighting our battles now) respect for those who have fought since, and those who continue to fight.
