I saw a lot of threads asking about which mods to do to get more power out of the 2.0. After reading countless threads I decided to go all in and buy them all.

After some experience with modding a Focus ST I learned that it always always always comes down to tuning the ECU. The bolt-ons only do anything of value once the ECU knows to take advantage of them.

So to all the people wondering if X part gives more power or Y part is going to make a difference, consider this: do the bolts on like intake and exhaust with the intent of also tuning your ECU. If you don’t you really are just changing the sound of the jeep and adding only slight power gains.

here’s what I did: s&b cold air with the hood scoop (ram air), the Mishimoto charge pipe with the diverter valve from GFB, and a Flowmaster flowfx extreme cat back. THEN I sent my ECU out to Eurocompulsion for the tune.

My wrangler is now an absolute ROCKET! I don’t have any dyno numbers - but I can say I went from doing little chirps off the line to being able to easily burnout.

If you are going for power gains you have to get a real deal tune not those plug and play systems that trick the ecu to add more boost. Also, don’t get caught up on which intake has the most gains, etc. they are all going to be slightly different but the engines not going to give a sh** when the ECU is programmed to kick a**

hope this helps someone who was as frustrated as I was trying to get more gains from the plethora of bolt ons out there.

Sorry, I don’t trust Italian engines enough to screw around with them too much.

I own a 2018 Abarth 124 Spider with the Fiat 1.4T engine. It is an amazing little engine, but if you read the forums you’d find you have a 50-50 chance of either having a totally trouble-free experience...or a complete nightmare. So I left the engine alone and do all the scheduled maintenance religiously. So far so good.

If I had the 2.0T, I’d do the exact same.

And what did 30HP cost?
Somewhere around $1500 at the end of the day - that’s all parts and tuning. Not so much the HP I cared about but the torque makes the jeep so much fun to drive.

I know to some that seems like a waste but I have seen people spend thousands on Knick-knacks and aesthetics.

on the flipside I have seen people spend a ton on just the bolt-ons scratching g their head why their jeep “doesn’t go faster”

I just thought it may help some to share

@mepperson Did you choose to raise the rev limiter on your tune? I've been looking into Eurocompulsion's cloned ECU for some time now.
I actually did not. I just felt like there wasn’t much to be gained but more to risk. Don’t regret my decision at all - all the torque is on the lower to mid range side of the band so getting those few extra rpm’s is probably not that helpful.

I admire this a lot. I hope it remains steady / reljable over the long term. Maybe get the dyno numbers just for the heck of it?

no need for them. When I'm on a diet, I never use a scale to measure if I'm losing any weight. Why they make dynos is beyond me. The butt dyno it the true test. It's the same for going to a drag strip. The timing system means nothing. Data, way overrated.
