Looks like Banks is going to make a 2.0 specific exhaust. Hopefully more products will follow.

The old proverb “necessity is the mother of invention” is something that has always reigned true here at Banks. Engineers through the years have done some pretty clever things to get the job done including making their own tools, their own testing equipment, and in the case where one department is too bogged down to assist… they just have to do it themselves.

One example is the prototype exhaust system for the 2018 to 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2.0-liter turbo the Banks Mechanical Engineers (MEs) are developing. Between high product demand and new benders being installed (more on that in a future R&D), the MEs are having a tough time producing exhaust system prototypes the old fashion way, so by using CAD and scanning data of the vehicle they went an alternate route and “printed” one.

By using rapid-prototyping an entire plastic exhaust system, including the hangers, was produced for fitment on the test Jeep. After installing and checking all the clearances, and making changes if needed to the CAD model, the bending schedule data can then be sent over to the Tube Shop for production.

It’s ingenuity like this that keeps the flow of research and development into new products and engines going.
