Has anyone had their HPFP successfully replaced via this recall?

I called my local dealer today and they said that I need to bring the Jeep in for an inspection to test the fuel. If the fuel has contaminants in it, they'll replace the fuel pump.

Aren't they supposed to outright replace the pump as a proactive measure? I'd rather not wait until it fails or until it contaminates the fuel in the middle of nowhere before I get it replaced.

Dude that is complete bullshit from your dealer. I mean seriously.

There are two scenarios:

1. The Jeep is not operational, inspect and replace fuel system 6.6 hours expected
2. The Jeep is operational, replace fuel pump with kit 1.7 hours expected

That is it. Send them the following PDF.

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCRIT-23V263-6622.pdf

And yes I have read a couple members here had theirs replaced no issues no questions and pretty quick. Several are waiting on the kit whatever it is but have the pump in stock. I suspect the kit comes from Jeep factory and with strike its a challenge. Pumps are supposed to be upgraded Bosch CP4.2s.

My guess based is they’re just getting you in to upsell you on undercoating.

tried stopping in a nearby dealer this afternoon to talk about getting the Recall performed, and they tried to give me the story that they need to have it brought in for an "inspection" (that they couldn't define) before they would order the parts. parts guy was heard to say there was some difference in the parts they'd order dependent on what what kind of "contamination" they found.

Walnut Creek Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. (i should have known as soon as i saw the name "Michael Stead" on the sign as i pulled in.)

@ytry
did you have to have an "inspection appointment" before you had yours replaced?

anyone else have to have an "inspection appointment"? i'm not seeing it spelled out this way in the literature i've seen so far.
seems to me that given the unlikelihood that a contaminated vehicle would be able to be driven in, they should get the parts they need to do an 'Uncontaminated repair', test it when they get it in, and only worry about having to order additional parts *if* they find contamination.

My dealer contacted me and this recall has so many different numbers. Called mine 01A and I was confused. They have contacted me for months about recall. But there was no real person answered. I think I said stop sending me these useless messages. Then a human came into it. LOL

My dealer shop in Anchorage is pretty damn awesome. I know a lot of people hate Jeep Dealers but they are pretty good. I would take it to the Dealer that I bought it from but they never contacted me to fix it.

Anyone had a pump replaced in the Denver area? Worried about the techs not being familiar with the engine.

Anyone get the high pressure fuel pump replaced? My dealer says no parts.
I was going to wait till middle of next year, maybe fall of next year even.

I use fuel additives every fill up, I'm not really worried about mine sliding out of place and shredding.

Like others have said, as an added bonus the dealerships will hopefully have enough experience at that point.

CP4.2s??

I thought that's what we currently had in there?

This article is back from April. So before they had a fix.

If they haven't changed up the mechanism that fails, what are they replacing?

Starting to sound like a bullshit fix. Mine's not broken I'm not sure I'm going to get mine fixed if they're just going to swap in the same shit they got in there already.

Yes, had mine replaced by Fowler Jeep in Boulder. They have been good so far with only wave oil change and HPFP replacement. No issues so far.

Recommendation to everyone you can ignore if you want. The pump is identical, unless they did some 0.01% increased lubrication on one component or something inside, its unchanged. Same part number, just shows different in the recall because it’s a kit not just the pump itself. With that, if your trucks fine, run it till your concerned, then schedule an appointment. Recall’s dont expire, wheter you go this month, or in 10 years, you still get a free pump replaced, or if contaminated from pump failure, you get an entire system, lines and all. Again, ignore me if y’all want, but that’s just what I would personally be doing
