Just bought a 2021JLUR 2.0l. First trip out, 60 miles into the ride, AC Stopped blowing as hard, still cold, and the jeep overheated shortly there after. Took it back to the dealer. The dealer swapped out my fuse array, and my cooling fan.

The next weekend I took it out and got about 50+ miles in on a dirt road where the same thing happened again. AC stopped blowing as hard, and I noticed temperature starting to heat up. Cooling Fan was no longer turning on. Im going to leave out the saga on how we got it back to the dealership.

Dealer did his test and said that the fuse array went out again. Only this time he replaced it with the 100amp fuse. He stated they originally swapped it out with the 60amp because that’s what was in there. He believes the JEEP has the heavy duty cooling fan. I can’t view this in Mopar system, so I have no way to confirm. How can I tell if it the 850w fan?

The next weekend, I took it out again. Only this time I was vigilant about how fast I was going and what temperatures were doing the whole time I was driving. The hottest it got was 231 on a large hill at faster speeds. I didn’t seem to have any issues until about 10 miles from home where the AC stopped blowing as hard again. Engine temperatures stayed about 210. once I got home and let it sit for a while, I restart it and the AC Blew just fine. Keep in mind the AC temperature was never warm in any instance, It was always cold, It was just the speed that it was blowing out was slower.

did some digging online and swapped out the cabin filter which was filthy. Did a 200 mile test drive the next day and everything seems to be working. I can say there are a couple differences with this last test drive though.
1- I never got above 80mph
2- I didn’t have the AC cranked as often.

i’ve seen several posts about the high amp fuse array and i just want to see if i should be concerned. Also, How can I tell if it’s a 850w cooling fan?

has anybody else ran into these issues?

I believe the amperage of the fan is printed on the back (engine) side of it on the silver plate. Stick you phone down there and record/photograph it.

Stick your phone behind the rad. fan and take a picture. It should say 600 watt / 850 watt or 940 watt. If you have the 850 or 940 watt then you should have the 240 amp alternator.

Thank you. I’ll give that a shot.

Thanks for the quick responses. It appears I have an 850w cooling fan. That said, do you guys think the AC speed slowing down and the fuse array going out were related or just coincidental occurrences?

My '19 Rubi has the Tow package and the Cold Weather package. I assume it was supposed to go up north, because I have the 60amp fuse array and the 600watt cooling fan. Yet, per the window sticker, I have the 240amp alternator.

I'm putting the 100amp fuse array in, but hope I don't come to regret not having the bigger fan.

Is there an easy was to confirm alternator output rating?

There should be a part number on the alternator. Post it here and I'll see if I can figure it out. Do you have the Alpine 8" system? That should bump you up to a 220 amp by itself.

Sounds like some jamoke replaced the OEM Z-fuse with an incorrect 60 amp along the way. Your temps are still pretty high. A RPM fan controller will bring them down about 20F.

As for the AC shutting down, it could be that the system got overcharged by the same jamoke that put the wrong Z-fuse in. Very common for people to get a can of refrigerant at a chain store and dump it in until they think they've fixed it. Some really bad things can happen if it contains the wrong oil or a leak sealer. If you're lucky, it's just overcharged and the system is reaching the upper pressure limit and shutting the compressor off. Having the system properly serviced should fix that.

The alternator P/N comes up as 240 amp.

I have the Alpine 9 speaker system, but I don't think the sub is true 8" as it appears to be oval.

you k now lately I've noticed my AC blower kinda slows down after driving for a while. I started getting warm the other day after being quite comfortable on speed 3. I don't think my eval iced over as it was only reading 43 degrees. It usually goes back to normal after a restart...
