Step sister doesn't count when your mom remarried her brother. And keeping the teeth at home is still creepy.
Nah, Mom died as soon as I got over the border......😓

Hi, I'm Dusty. And I am a condescending jerk. Just wanted to get that out of the way before I continue. This post is my opinion, not a statement of fact. And I know that a lot of people are going to disagree with me. I'm okay with that.

If you bought a Wrangler and you do not go off road, you bought the wrong vehicle. There are so many posts here, with owners complaining about things that are just inherent to how a Wrangler is constructed. "My Jeep rides worse than ____, my gas mileage is bad after lift and tires (duh), it's noisy inside, my steering is funny, etc, etc..."

Not all of these posts are uncalled for, but some of the people have a rather unreasonable expectation. And some wish for Jeep to change the Wrangler to be more in line to what they are expecting. That's where I don't agree with folks. Several times people have expressed the wish for the Wrangler to have IFS, fixed windshields, even a fixed top. If that's what you want, those vehicles already exist. There are other options from most manufacturers that fit those categories. But there is only one vehicle like the Wrangler. The "quirks and features" to quote Doug Demuro from YouTube are what makes the Wrangler unique and desirable. It's the only SUV still available with a solid axle. It's the only one that has a folding windshield. One of only 2 that has a removable top. The body on frame construction makes it heavy, but rugged. The recirculating ball steering has a heavy feel and combined with the sfa can have rough handling and steering problems compared to IFS. But it's much stronger and easier to modify for improved performance off road. The problems that most people complain about, are part and parcel with the attributes that make the Wrangler such a desirable vehicle to people who want to use their Jeep off road on the trails. But it makes it a bad choice for a daily commute vehicle if you don't intend to ever go wheeling. Especially if you have modified it for larger tires to look cool, but did not consider how that would impact the daily drive.

Rant over. Again, this is just words from a judgmental prick. Feel free to completely ignore me. But maybe, just maybe after reading this you will think about what I wrote and if there is a kernel of truth to it.
I agree with ya. Jeeps aren’t for everyone and many just get them to say they have a Jeep. Just my opinion since they loaded them up with all the creature comforts in them it went downhill

Actually, the same characteristics that make it a great off-roader also enhance urban driving. It sits up high over traffic, the rock rails prevent door dings, the front end doesn't scrape curb blockers, ground clearance means that you (usually) don't have to veer out of the way of unexpected crap that appears in your lane, and it laughs at potholes.

On a side note, mine gets 25+ mpg, and at the same time it could pull your house off its foundation. That is generally an either/or proposition.

To demostrate my consistancy (and heresy), I don't "track" my avatar vehcle either. Which in purist circles is an equally offensive faux pas.

Bottom line: your money; your choice.

But besides those few characteristics, it’s an awful vehicle for city/urban driving. It handles poorly in general, but particularly in wind, at higher speeds, etc (go look at any review of the wrangler and it will say that). It has worse braking and acceleration than similar model year vehicles. It has less safety features than the same year model from other manufacturers. It typically gets worse mpg than similar vehicles. It’s less reliable than similar vehicles.

Like I said, my money my choice. There is room on this forum for onroaders, offroaders, and (reluctantly) Jeep Nazis who try to tell members how to use their vehicles. [not aimed at you @rock123]

Not to mention the fact that onroaders overwhelmingly keep the company in business. Without us, we'd all be driving something else. :)

Do you work for Consumer Reports? There really isn't a similar vehicle to a Wrangler except based on size, so I assume you're saying all vehicles in its class are basically the same, and they're not.

Sure there is. Bronco? Or any of the other SUVs with 4x4 if you don’t need a solid axle.
Folks must not drive other cars if you think the wrangler drives well on the road.

They just tell themselves that so they dont question their poor decision making. Just like the whole "My money my choice" phrase. They know they picked something that was a compromise, and there were better choices out there but emotion outweighed anything else and pride wont let them admit they may have picked the wrong thing. And then someone points it out and they get angry.

Do you see anyone arguing on here that the Wrangler drives as well as a vehicle with independent suspension, or as well as a car-based SUV? I certainly didn't say that.

Right, yokramer...keep fishing for reactions. Why do you have sex if it's not to reproduce? You don't need a Jeep, get rid of it, buy a better choice.

You clearly never read any of the rest of what Ive typed lol I readily admit to being a moron and buying dumb shit all the time. I have a fucking RX7 for gods sake, had 2 of them at one point. However I got the Wrangler over a Tacoma because I knew the Wrangler was a better fit for the type of wheeling I like to do, and went with the 2 door because (beyond them being the only real Wrangler) I dont need anymore room than that and to save $5k+.

Could I have gotten the Taco then did the body mount chop and lift to put 35s on it and wheel the places I have in the JLR ... yea probably but for me the Wrangler is the best fit for what I enjoy in the type of vehicle. I also have no delusions that it rides better, will be as reliable or comfortable as the Tacoma, and sure as shit aint gonna yell into the void about it. But at the end of the day dollar to performance the Wrangler came out ahead as well.

Maybe not you, but others have just about said that in this thread. Someone asked about Consumer Reports, where we all know they rate the wrangler poorly in every road test. It’s insinuated that Consumer Report’s methodology is flawed or they are biased. Well, unfortunately they are right on the road aspect and their testing reflects the likely use of the vehicle for the vast majority of owners (even me, it’s my vehicle for everything).
I don’t care what people own the wrangler for. But it is just not true that it’s a great on the road vehicle.

Yep because nobody there cares about your opinion on economics and corporate practice. And if you try to act like you know what you’re talking about when you don’t, you will get your proverbial dick knocked in the dirt.

Pretty sure there they'd knock you in the dirt, pants you, and then cram dirt up your dick hole
