You could also add a spacer, or longer springs or a combination of both.

Thanks for this , what kind of modifications are required for FOX and do you have the part number to order these specifically for a Rubicon XR package?

Air/Hydro bumps are made by a handful of companies.

Only real vehicle modification is cutting the bump tube:

I was looking at the hydraulic bump stops as well but wondered if the jounce bump stop cup could instead be recovered and welded back on after cutting down the tube. I'm not sure how the cup is attached but that might be a cheaper option.

I had the same issue with the suspension as you. After having a steel bumper and winch installed I had no up travel left. The fix for me was the Clayton Offroad 2 1/2" Overland plus lift kit and Fox shocks. As easily as the coil springs collapsed I didn't feel spacers would be a real fix. I am happy with the fix but it does take the shine off the XR package.

I think the XR package is a great choice if you want 4.56 gears. I did. While I can do my own gears I do not want to if I can avoid it. Not sure about the quality of the available after market gears Right now. I sold my wheels, tires and suspension for 3000.00. So I got factory gears with warranty plus the axle, spare reinforcement, brake stuff for a grand that I can spread out over five years. Seems like a good deal to me.

IMO if you are ok with a V6 and an AT, it's a steal at $3995 and you get the steel knuckles instead of aluminum. You can't get the package with the diesel or the Turbo 4 or a manual. Same issue I had with the GM kitting out JK's with a full AEV lift with bumpers, wheels and tires and wondering why he can't sell them. We want what we want and that cookie cutter isn't the kind of cookie that we want.
You can get the XR with the 2.0.

My 4XE had some serious reliability issues. The power between it and the 3.6 is not a comparison. The braking of the 4XE is different given the electric motors. I prefer the 3.6 as that is more of a direct feel.

I had a similar situation as OP, except I bought the 2021 Rubicon Ecodiesel and started having problem after problem after 7000 miles so I traded it for an XR that was on the lot last October (guy who ordered it didn’t end up buying it). I wheeled it all over Big Bear, Johnson Valley, Moab and Colorado stock. It does hit the bumps occasionally but surprisingly not that much. Mine came with plastic stock bumpers which are much lighter than the steel ones, which probably accounts for less bottoming out than others with heavy steel bumpers and winches bringing the bump towers closer to bottoming out.
When I ditched the plastic front bumper I installed the Rockhard4x4 Aluminum mid width at just 35lbs and a Warn evo 8000s synthetic rope winch. I purposefully shopped to keep it light to stay off the huge front bumps as much as possible. I’ve kept the rear plastic bumper and just added a hitch skid plate to keep the rear weight down also. Even with the heavy winch the front sits almost exactly level with the rear and now with 37” KM3’s and swapping just the rear bump stop bumper with the Metalcloak rear bumper, heavy wheeling and flexing and it does NOT rub and wheels great! Doesn’t have the quite the flex that a lift would add, but I actually love the lower center of gravity, stock steering and driveshaft geometry & the looks!
The XR is working out great for me! I’m running up to 7 rated trails at least once a week, sometimes twice. I live high up in the Colorado Rockies so trails are plentiful and close to me ??

I've seen hit or miss on the bump stops. I personally had plenty of up travel stock.

Also missing the cast vs alum knuckles being an upgrade. The springs, while yielding lift, also have a longer unsprung length vs a Rubicon. That means you can run a 12" travel shock and not unseat the coil. Which is cool. Axle diameter? Idk, 22k so far wheeling on 40s. Haven't bent it yet so maybe so.

But this has been beat to death. Great for some, some can do without.

The bead locks look cool, but I’m not going to install tires that way any time soon. “Axle strength” is a topic of debate.
XR’s gearing, beefier brakes and axles are nice.
The mm increase in tube thickness adds only a few % in strength. It's nothing like the change from the JK to the JL.

Tube strength goes up as the fourth power, and it is called Moment of Inertia, or Inertial Stiffness. JL vs JK:

3.14159265 × (D4 - d4) ÷ 64
(70^4 - 63.65^4) ÷ (62.5^4 - 56.15^4) × 100% = +43% stiffer (JL axle)

Axle diameter? Idk, 22k so far wheeling on 40s. Haven't bent it yet so maybe so.
Bending the axles has nothing to do with tire diameter. It's the mass of the vehicle and the skinny petal. Breaking driveline is different, R cross F.

Yes, JL axles appear much stronger than those on JK, across the entire lineup.

Despite lots of people riding on 35s these days, we hardly ever see posts about anyone breaking axles any more.

Several JLURs in my club have body damage from the rear factory steel bumper forced into the body.

That's what I did, works pretty good. Are those 13.5 in wide KM3s? they look wider than mine.

Nope these are 37/12.5/17’s but on wheels with 4.75” backspace and 8.5” wide instead of the mopar beadlocks with 5” back spacing and 8” wide

I was always hitting the bump stops, it was pretty annoying.

Would I buy an XR again? If no other Hydro Blues where avail probably.

Was $3995 worth it? Not sure. I broke even with selling the XR parts but at this point it’s no longer an XR.
