I was having an issue with my 2020 jl 2 door just a moment ago. Currently it's piping hot in Virginia and I'm about 6500 miles since my last oil change.

I tried to start up the jeep after it had been sitting out in the sun for a few hours and it was wobbling, specifically in the exhaust region. I have an aftermarket exhaust and it's gotten extremely rusty since I got it. I'm due for a new one. I tried to power through the issue but after hitting the gas, the car had no power. I turned the jeep off and back on again and it's seemingly working okay for now. I have rock lights attached to bolts on the battery, which sometimes make starting the jeep take multiple attempts, but I'm thinking these issues aren't related.

Sitting at 56000 miles in the JL wondering what the issue could be. Only maintenance I've done to the vehicle is a battery change, regular oil changes and tire rotations. Wondering where the issue could be.

Explain this, please. What is “wobbling”? Do you mean shaking?

That would be the first thing I’d remove. The fact that you state they cause the vehicle to take “multiple attempts” to start, indicates you have an issue. I’d venture to say you’ve got something wired incorrectly.

battery change
You don’t state what engine you have. If you have one with an aux battery, has that ever been changed or bypassed? From what it sounds like, probably not. That’s the second place you should look. You are long overdue if you still have the OEM/stock battery. They are known to last about 3 years, if that. The aux battery and main battery are connected. If the aux is bad, it will kill your main battery.

Heck- I’ve had a couple vehicles that had severe wobble at idle, but it was a good thing caused by a grin inducing high lift, long duration, big overlap cam. ? Old guy misses it . ?

I have a 2 liter turbo engine. I've taken the fuse out for the aux battery. The stock battery has been replaced.

The jeep was shaking particularly in the area near the exhaust. It has only happened that one time yesterday

And did you disconnect the aux negative cable?

I'd say your exhaust is the issue.

You've got rock lights that you state cause starting issues. You also state you have an after market exhaust that has rusted, which sounds like it is of cheap quality. A quality stainless steel exhaust should not rust. It is possible you have holes in the exhaust or some of the hangers have rusted to the point they are not doing their job.

I'd bet money that your rock lights and exhaust are where all of your issues come from.

Yes. The battery had issues before with starting. I upgraded the battery to a 94. I've had issues getting the positive terminal fully mounted on to the battery so there's a loose connection there as well.

Frequently my jeep will not start, but after tapping the push to start a second or third time, the jeep will start up. Sometimes I'll need to get out and toggle with the positive end of the battery terminal, but I haven't had to jump it.

Next time I have an issue I'll record a video showing what I'm experiencing. I'm attaching a photo of my exhaust.

As far as disconnecting the aux negative cable, i have not done that-nor am I sure of how to do that
