So my JLURD is hopefully being built in the next month, but one of the things I thinking about is when I go to pick it up is to ask the service dept at the dealership to check on that bundle of wires that apparently may be loose from the factory and end up resting on the exhaust.

I've seen some videos on youtube that show it's somewhat accessible from the passenger side fender well.

Does anyone think it'd be good to ask the service dept to inspect this area prior to me driving off the lot with it? I know I could do this myself, but the dealership I ordered from is a good distance from my home and the current plan is to pick up from the dealer and road trip to some family another few hours away.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking that it couldn't hurt and won't cost you anything.

It never hurts to ask anything, whether they check it or not is a whole different story lol. I asked the dealership to check and reseat fuses and check that bundle to secure it if it was not. The fuses were not pushed in but I noticed the bundle appeared to be pulled away from the exhaust and secured somewhere (I couldn't see it). I could have lucked out with someone on shift at the plant placing that wire bundle or maybe they're coming from the factory better secured away, who knows. ?‍♂

One thing is for certain, dealerships will lie through their teeth to put on a good show and make the sale.

Well the sale is pretty much in the bag at this point. Ordered through Koons in VA and it's been a good experience so far.

I'll ask the to take a look as it can't hurt to ask.

I'll definitely be checking up on it myself for peace of mind sometime after my trip. Assuming I'm not able to just convince them to show me it in the service bay that the wire harness is up and out of the way.

Trust but verify is a good motto to live by. If you pick it up at the dealership and they have an open bay, it would be nice to ask to get it up on a lift and check that wire bundle. I would probably offer to pay for the lift time lol.

If you lay down directly behind the front passenger wheel, you can look up behind the fender liner (pull it out a bit) and you can see the wire loom. Bring a single zip tie and a pair of wire pliers with you to the dealership and you can "fix" the potential issue in roughly 1 minute, no dealer "assurances" required.

Yep, as said above, relatively easy fix. It's a bit of a challenge to get the zip tie on, I had to do it with one hand up in there because I have big hands, it's a bit of a curse. I also partially tucked it behind some of the aluminum heat shielding that is there against the foot well of the cab so that it's even more shielded and held away from the exhaust/egr plumbing.

Mine also seemed to be tucked up nicely somewhere because I couldn’t see it. Was wondering if I’m just lucky or if the bundle is part of the Rubicon/accessory package I don’t have because I have a fairly base level Sport S. Anyone know what wires are in the bundle?

JLdiesel recently posted a video about this on Youtube.
I've seen that video and it didn't look to terrible to get in there. Figured if I was at the dealer prior to heading out on the next leg of a 500 mile road trip it'd be good to see if they'd take a gander at it.

If not I'd probably hit an Autozone or somewhere nearby and see if I could do in the parking lot. Or once I'm at my brother's, pop out his tools and go check it out.

one other thought. Jeep also has issues with fully seating the fuses in the fuse box. The fuse box is under the hood (only one in a Wrangler). Press in each and every fuse to make sure they are all fully seated.

Have that one on my checklist for sure :)
