This is a recuring topic. Allow me to cut to the chase:

• There are various versions on the market (I have the Carlinkit) and they are all basically the same. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they are made on the same assembly line using different housings.
• If you are looking for something that works flawlessly, 100% of the time, think again.
• That said, it only flakes out very occasionally, and simply needs to be power cycled to bring back into the game.
• For $100 I recommend it.

I plug mine in to the dashboard USB port using a 6" cable, and store the device in the nearby cubby hole (unless you have the Aux switches)

I put my wireless Car Play in the lower compartment of my center console and it works great. No problems at all.

I run this one in my center console and have had no problems. If anything works too well. I park near my office window and since the USB ports stay powered for nearly 1 hour after you turn the jeep off, if I get a call it automatically goes to the car play and I have to switch it back to the handset.

LOL... I have the same adapter and experience the same issues. It can be annoying sometimes but overall a great adapter for wireless carplay.

I really wish the console USB port supported Carplay. Mine does for a little while when I have my phone plugged into it, but then disconnects randomly like my phone isn't there.

Why, Jeep? Is it really that hard to support CarPlay from the console USB?

I bought this one and of course it did not work in Center console. Is there anything special you have to do? Of course, it works on the dash USB.

Nope. Nothing special. Every CarlinKit adapter, 2.0 to 5.0, have all worked in my center console without issue.

They're all essentially one of two types - with cellular or without. The AI boxes with cellular are a lot better even if you do not connect them to a network with a sim, because the non-cellular AI boxes seem to be very limited in what apps you can install. Only netflix and a few others. Whereas the cellular AI boxes are open and have GPS so you can run maps.

I've got perhaps 3 of each type and then software is the same between them. They run from either USB. However be prepared for it to crash and reboot about every 30 minutes.

I plugged it into the USB port in the console. There is no reason for it to work differently whether it is in the front port, console port or the ones on the back of the console.
