There are strong opinions on both sides of the current clutch recall and fix but one thing most seem to agree on is that the software flash that Jeep developed to address the issue is not ideal. Without rehashing what folks think about altering the PCM on all JL manuals, what do you think the chances are that Jeep will replace the affected hardware in the coming model year? I would be surprised if they continued to roll out the manual equipped JLs unchanged in 2022 but Iā€™m new to Jeep and their unique approach to business.

Yeah, I doubt FCA is going to upgrade the manual.

This is a sellers market. Automakers are struggling to keep up with demand, which the ongoing chip shortage only makes harder.

Fixing the manual transmission on Wrangler is way down on Jeepā€™s list.

Other than a clutch upgrade the only thing the Manual needs is a better gear ratio in the diff's.

INDEED all manuals should have 3:73

At least! 4:10's would be better.

Definitely agree on the gearing. I have driven a few and the ratio seems wrong in a number of ways. I had high hopes for owning one of these but my enthusiasm is waning the more I read about all of the issues folks are having.

My 2012 JKU had the 3.6 w/stick and 3:73 gears plenty of get up and go. My 2021 JLU has 3.6 w/stick and who knows what but gearing makes a world of difference!

There is not a colon in the number unless you write it as a ratio.

Unfortunately 6MT/3.6 combo is probably < 10% of sales. We take what they give us and say thank you.

I think theyā€™ll kill it outright before they admit a mistake. So theyā€™ll probably keep the 21 gear sensor and new software.

I have a ā€˜19 JLU Sport S with 6MT. Never had an issue. But i asked the dealer anyway. It took them maybe 5-10 mins to confirm they checked it out and I didnā€™t have a problemā€¦which I knew. That was 20K miles ago. Iā€™m nit calling bs on anyone. Iā€™m sure some folks may have had an issue. But mine is great (knocking on wood).
