I come to find out that the Jeep hit a pole and not a tree. So it’s safe to say don’t poke dance with your wranglers

Can't get 20MPG with a steel bumper.
Sure you can. The coefficient of friction is lower on the steel bumper than the plastic. The plastic tries to grab the air while the steel smoothly slides past it. You'll get BETTER MPG with steel than plastic. Yup. Trust me on that one :like:

Just got back from Hawaii few days ago. I have never seen more tacomas in my life. Not even down in Texas, where they are made. This crash looks like a rental potentially. 4/10 cars are tacomas in Hawaii. 2/10 are wranglers, mostly rental wranglers. Some rental company wanted $300-400 a day for new Rubicon; too expensive in my book. I'm about to buy 10 and move down there for a new business venture for those kind of rental fees.

Totally agree. I replaced my stock bumper with a MOPAR steel one. I'm shocked at how crappy the stock bumper is. It's essentially useless. The parts are worth more than the bumper.
It clearly isn’t useless. The cab and engine bay is still intact.

If it had a steal bumpers there would if been a picture of the tree on the ground. Hope the driver was ok.
The tree was made of wood and still won. It’s not the bumper’s material that was the problem.

The bumpers hold up well. This was 60 mph into a parked Chevy Equinox on the highway . $ 26,720 in damage before tearing it down ...

@jamielong Wait! How was that possible? You going 60mph and the Equinox was parked?

My wife was on her way to school last week , Merging from one major highway to the next via exit ramp . There were 2 cars ahead of her , The one directly in front of her started swerving all over the place and went off the roadway and bumped the guardrail , She looked over her shoulder to see what he was doing when the first car stopped completely . The first car was the wife of the guy who went off the road .....

In the blink of an eye my wife looked forward and it was too late ...
