I come to find out that the Jeep hit a pole and not a tree. So it’s safe to say don’t poke dance with your wranglers

Sure you can. The coefficient of friction is lower on the steel bumper than the plastic. The plastic tries to grab the air while the steel smoothly slides past it. You'll get BETTER MPG with steel than plastic. Yup. Trust me on that oneCan't get 20MPG with a steel bumper.

It clearly isn’t useless. The cab and engine bay is still intact.Totally agree. I replaced my stock bumper with a MOPAR steel one. I'm shocked at how crappy the stock bumper is. It's essentially useless. The parts are worth more than the bumper.
The tree was made of wood and still won. It’s not the bumper’s material that was the problem. If it had a steal bumpers there would if been a picture of the tree on the ground. Hope the driver was ok.
I would assume he was standing on the brake pedal at the time he hit... wow!@jamielong Wait! How was that possible? You going 60mph and the Equinox was parked?

Hope the wife is ok. Total lost ?The bumpers hold up well. This was 60 mph into a parked Chevy Equinox on the highway . $ 26,720 in damage before tearing it down ...
