Hi all…wife’s 2019 Jeep rubicon (4 dr) dashboard lit up about 2 weeks ago( engine, abs, esc, 4 wheel drive). Took it to auto zone to run diagnostics, and following errors came up. Implausible vehicle speed (check engine light), and 3 errors on Right Rear Wheel speed sensor(ABS). A known issue with the junk wheel sensors. replaced both rear wheel sensors today. And of course lights didnt go off, and now the brake light is lit up as well. Took to auto zone again, same error diagnostics, but now the left rear wheel sensors also showing. Anybody have any suggestions on what next to replace? Don’t want to take to a dealer until I’ve worked through several issues/replacements as they will likely just treat jeep as an ATM while they work through identifying rea issue.
thanks

Start investigation the Canbus star connector in the glove box. My jeep did the same thing but I was throwing communication errors.

Thanks I’ll give that a shot…did you test it before you replaced it? If so, how?

I pulled codes and there was a bunch of communication errors. Read about it and then took the Jeep in and told them. Of course they did not listen the first time and said it was my security bypass for JScan that caused the issue. They removed that and said fixed. They pulled Jeep up for me and as it was sitting there it started doing all the same stuff. This time they listened to me.
Some have just bought the part on eBay and have replaced it. I believe it is fairly cheap.

Good place to start. These used to be easy to find but I think Stellantis must have bought them all up for warranty work?

Hah! That’s what I’m worried about. had an issue 3-4 years ago with sensor. Took them 5 tries to get the right one. Fortunately was still under warranty. This time don’t want to pay them every time they mis-diagnose the problem. Hopefully I’ll run across issue prior to exhausting my mechanical aptitude with the things I can replace/fix.

Investigate replacement of the CANBUS block(s) behind the glove box, as suggested.

Do also consider replacing the main 12V battery, depending on its age. When they're nearing the end of their practical service life, they can sometimes cause a variety of seemingly unrelated electrical problems. Modern vehicles that are excessively encumbered with electronics, like our Jeeps, are susceptible to such things. Be sure to use an AGM battery, if or when you do replace the current one.

A battery that may be on its way out can have a satisfactory resting voltage (it shouldn't be lower than 12.3V), but that same voltage will then fall off a cliff during a cranking event. So, any tests should measure both voltage readings.

Hi all, unfortunately replacing the CANBUS didn’t solve the issue. Anyone have any other suggestions or ideas? Thanks, TT

A bit off topic but close i suppose

Sitting in my jeep the other day listening to satellite radio in ACC mode

Suddenly The radio went dark, The start button was stuck on run & the dashboard lit up like A July 4th fireworks display, The wipers turned on, could not get the windows up etc

Went straight to the fuse box & heard some strange noises, A high pitched whine & clicking noises

Disconnected/reconnected the battery, Still was wigging out

Disconnected the battery again for about 5 minutes, Made sure all the fuses were snug & it has run good no issues the last few days

What would cause this & what should i do/look for, Trying to keep it out of the stealership, It would likely be a few weeks b4 i could get a appointment

TIA

When mine did it they replaced the steering column control module.

My dash lit up like a Christmas tree when the original main AGM battery crapped out with no warning after 5 1/2 years. Luckily, the Jeep was parked in my garage. A new battery solved the problem.
