I hear ya.... but "if in doubt, whip it out" so to speak.... or other choice is to pay lots of $ to have it properly load tested, so you know the battery is not the underlying issue to your problem.

A decent H7 (Go with an H7!) is relatively inexpensive and ... and your battery is 2 yrs old so is relatively old....

Main battery talk....

Makes sense. I do have the H7. I put that in when I swapped batteries.

am I wrong to expect 36 months out of a new battery?
My personal standard for any 12V battery is 5 years. E.g., the original Yuasa YTX9-BS battery in my 2015 Suzuki continues to reliably crank the engine, almost 9 years on. It owes me nothing, but nonetheless I am enjoying the excellent service life. Note that "TX" designates an AGM battery.

The factory AGM H6 battery in my JLU, now 3.5 years old, spins the starter as robustly as the day I took delivery in 2020. I have had ESS turned off since that day, too.

The Jeep is a daily driver. Those 12V batteries that are used seasonally (e.g., the Suzuki) are connected to smart tenders for the duration of the storage period.

Here's a mini deep-dive.

Canbus replaced. I will say after I checked the canbus previously and push the connectors I haven’t had an issue so hopefully this is the problem. Next issue. One of the white wiring connector clips broke. Does anyone happen to know a part number for these. I tried to look but am not having any luck. Also I have never had to replace one of these. Is it something that can be down with regular tools or would I need something just for these connectors?

Just an update. So far issue hasn't repeated itself. I will give it another week and then I will take apart the old canbus to see what it looks like inside.

Glad to hear! It's amazing the troubles that can be caused by an $8 piece of plastic. I took my old one apart after I replaced it, and could not see any visible signs of failure.

FOUND A FIX! I had the same issue every time I was out in the snow and mud. The dealership tried a couple times to find the issue and actually told me not to drive my Jeep through puddles bc I was getting all my electronics soaked. Through this website I found a couple references to wiring harness issues up front. People having to pay the dealership to change out a portion if not all of the wiring harness fixed the issue. Some mentioned a couple spots to check and we searched for worn wires. Finally found and fixed with a little electrical tape. With the hood open, I looked down the hole where the hood latch goes and towards the passenger side between the condenser and the radiator there's a 1/4 wire bundle held up tight to the bottom with clips going from the condenser to the radiator. Pain to get to, but sure enough when we released a couple clips and were able to pull the wire away from the bottom of the radiator, it had been partially worn through on the top. Never would have seen it from underneath. We put some electrical tape and then some aluminum tape and I haven't had a problem since. Back to splashing through puddles. Hope this helps some of you

Hi - when replacing the STAR connector I also broke one of the white plugs that go into the connector. Have you been able to find a replacement or get a part number by any chance?

I never did find another connector. I haven't had an issue with the plug not being clipped in. I would've had one a few weekends ago when I was at AOAA if it was going to be a problem.

Thanks for your response - unfortunately I broke one connector in half using needle nose pliers. Does not feel secure plugin it back in. I cannot locate the little white connectors anywhere.
Tried eBay, jeep parts online etc. - it's tough most likely an electrical standard plug from some manufacturer unknown to us. Getting the green can bus connector was easy ...

One more: what is the right way to remove the white connectors from the green can bus base?
I most have done something wrong?

Attach a good photo or two to an email and send it to Jim at EB. I've sourced esoteric electrical connectors, etc. from him for a while now. If he doesn't have what you need, he might at least be able to provide the correct name. No guarantees here, but worth a shot.

Thank you. An excellent lead - will try that route.

Push a very small flathead screwdriver into the clip and you will feel and hear a slight click - when you do, the connector can be pulled out easily.

The green CANBUS is made by TE Connectivity - perhaps they make the white clip as well?

Little flat head screwdriver like a glasses repair one and on the one side is a clip. Push the screwdriver toward the connector and pull up. Just needs a little pressure not much. That’s how I broke mine with to much pressure.
