Regarding twat waffle, I work with a bunch of ruffians and my language has gotten deplorable.... I threw it in there for the humorous and offensive nature as that is how I see the behavior as being. That and crayon eater and window licker is getting overused and abused here.

And as @Smarrtazz put it ā€œmisery is an optionā€. Yes it is, but be a decent human being and not spread that cancer. That is the point. One of my first points in all this was those doing this were about those contributing to their and others misery, effectively feeding the cancer and making it worse. Misery loves company and I saw BillyHW as the primary recruiter in the ORPs controversy.
Your ā€˜deplorable’ language cracks me up:cwl:. I agree with you that a well-placed statement can fuel or incite ā€˜whatever’ for its intended use or desired effect. I try to avoid the Negative Nellys.

  • Health? Check.
  • Roof over my head? Check.
  • Food? Check.
  • Wife and kids happy, healthy, getting the love and support they need to be successful? Check.
  • Gainfully employed? Check.
To all you pissed off whiners, what’s on your checklist? How much worse would your life be if you had to uncheck one of your items? Worse than having to wait a bit for a new truck? Take a deep breath and chew on that.

Sometimes perspective helps.

I have made a mental note to add crayon eater to my vocabulary.

I’ve been on a few firearm forums and you want to talk about adding words to your vocabulary. Good Lord they are great source of drama and insults.

Funny how people use the purchase price (ALWAYS quoted as $50k+ and as high as $65k) as their reason to bitch about the delay if their ordered Jeep. That would be a legitimate complaint (even at $20k) IF they had already PAID that much. The thing is, other than a deposit, no one waiting has paid a thing. BTW, my well optioned Rubi cost me $42k.

There is a lot of truth to the fact that the communication is shit between FCA and the customers ordering vehicles from them. As a customer, I'm not happy at all with the fact that nobody can tell me when my completed Wrangler will ship.

BUT, there's a lot more truth to the fact that communicating the status of every vehicle in real time (even if it's only once a day or once a week) is an astronomical amount of manpower. I build custom order products for a living, and at any point in time have around 100 customers. "It takes just a few minutes to update everyone" is really not true. Each person wants to hear about their own specific order. So how many customers are there right now with jeeps waiting to ship? 1000? 10,000? We don't really know. But to give each person the response they want probably takes upwards of 15 minutes. That's 250-2500 man hours in updates every time they update everyone. In those updates, everyone expects to see a date. If they say "it will be a few weeks before we have the soft tops," then on day 22 at exactly 12:01AM, they will be bombarded with thousands of messages passive aggressively asking them when their Jeep will have shipped, because it couldn't possibly still be delayed. If they even hint at a loose timeline, suddenly it's written in stone and everyone expects consequences if it isn't followed. Nobody wants to hear "Your Jeep is still waiting to ship, we had a few dozen full trucks going to other dealers so yours got pushed back a few dozen times and is still in the same parking spot in our staging area that it was a month ago."

Bottom line, if they improve the communication with customers but keep telling us what we don't want to hear, the anger level won't really change, and they'll have to spend MANY more man hours in the process. I think that's probably why they don't offer tracking to the consumer. All of the work they would put into the system and nothing would change. Nobody wants to know their car is sitting at a facility for 3 weeks waiting for led headlights, a soft top, rubicon stickers, etc.

Aside from the very few of you who have been waiting absurd amounts of time, how many of us would be angry at all if we ordered the vehicle, the dealer told us 4-6 months, we knew nothing in the meantime, and it showed up after 3.5 months? I'm so excited for my Wrangler I can't stand it. I know it's only a 2 hour trip from Toledo, so it could literally arrive at any moment of any day. The fact that I know it was built 6 days ago is why I'm excited at all. If I didn't know that, the dealer told me 7-8 weeks, so I still wouldn't be getting excited for another week or two.

I find it comical as well.... try building a 500k custom home and have delay after delay. Or any home for that matter. Then only find out after closing there are still issues to fix. You want to talk about testing your patience. Somewhere along the way a few people lost a grip on reality.

I ordered a 2014 MINI Cooper Paceman at the end 2013. A firm delivery date of February 28th 2014 was promised. I was able to track online the entire build process. It went into the usual schedule to be built, parts sourcing and factory scheduling; the normal build process.

The car never went into actual assembly line production and around the end of January 2014; tracking showed all production preparations had stopped. Dealer inquiries resulted in the main excuse; this is a limited production vehicle and other vehicles have higher priority.

I patiently waited through February and March with still no build being scheduled. April 2014 I threatened to pull out of the purchase. Two weeks later I was summoned to the local dealer. Waiting for me was a brand new MINI Paceman fully loaded that I was given to use until my vehicle arrived. My car arrived the beginning of May.

This is an extreme case of corporate responsibility and caring about a customer which you will never see from FCA. I donā€t expect this from FCA I just expect a little bit of consideration and not the complete lack of accurate communication. It’s called common decency and the respect for your loyal customers and people in general.

Bottom line people, I’m at a 100+ days from my first order and really have no idea when I’ll get my second order. You’re not going to find me emailing my dealer daily or harassing him. I may get frustrated with the different responses and answers we get from various sources, but I just want to figure this out like a jigsaw puzzle...no luck yet :cwl:. No one should take it out on the people at Jeep Chat (Dorothy and I had a lovely conversation about snowmen) or JeepCares. They are doing their best with the information they are being given. Could this have been handled differently by FCA? Probably, but I know shit about that process and so what if it should be handled differently? It isn’t and it changes nothing about my current situation. Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy? I choose to be happy and enjoy this forum as much as I can and absorb as much information as I can. Misery is an option.
I admire the Zen people on this forum who are so calm, understanding, and are being patient with FCA. I wish I was like you but I am not. I don’t fully understand how a Jeep is made nor do I want to. I am paying FCA to build me one and all I want from them is to keep me updated on the progress. Is it too much to ask? The reason I am this interested is because I am excited about this purchase. This Jeep is not a need by any means and a few month delay will not change anything in my life. It is splurging. But I want to be treated as a valued customer. Why do I have to call Jeep Chat and dealer. Add another $100 to the price and send me updates on regular intervals. Be transparent and we will understand. We like the product and we want it. FCA needs to show that they value us as customers and treat us with respect. Tolerating FCA disfunctionality does not make you a better human. So don’t try to shame me. I like Jeep but I am not happy with FCA....

I don’t think of myself as a zen person, more of a practical person. In fact, you may be the first person to call me that. :cwl: I wasn’t shaming you or anyone else, so I can’t help you with your perspective on that. I don’t see the point in becoming upset of a situation I cannot change. That’s it. Should the roll out have been handled differently-yes. You made many valid points, but my point is...it changes nothing. Getting fired up at FCA isn’t going to make them change the process, it’s only going to keep you fired up. Maybe you like being fired up, I dunno. That is zen POV. :)

I know. I know. You are right.

I am done with this thread. I need to stay optimistic :). The whole idea of getting a Jeep is to have fun.

I am going go and look at pictures people are posting of their Jeeps, the nice modifications they are making, and off course the Jeep Humor thread. No point in discussing FCA
