Right around 3000. Yes I did use the dealer freebee oil change as why not. I did double check everything though and plan on doing all my future oil changes myself with royal purple. Something interesting for us 6 speed people. I told them I did not want the computer reflashed for the warranty recall and they said if I refused to do it now that it would void any future warranty claims if it caught on fire or failed. So I reluctantly let them do it and you can't tell the difference. Just a bit of info for M/T guys and gals. They also gave me a new charger gt for a loaner which was fun!

Despite the post above, it does “work’.

jeep Wave gives some free oil changes. Unfortunately some idiot dealerships have trouble putting 5 quarts into the 3.6L and instead add 6. Why? because they are absolute idiots who should be banned from the human race..... and some of these idiots are still doing it even after 4 model years. FCA chooses to ignore this issue with its craptastic dealer network. And, the only ”wave” that FCA should get for this is with our middle fingers.

that said, I am also sure that many dealers (including mine) put 5 quarts in as they should. My dealer knew to put in 5, put in 5, and I was out in 30 minutes, free of charge including a free 5-tire rotation. If you don’t have the 3.6L, the ‘extra quart issue” is not a concern.

I took my '19 JLR to the dealer for all of the Jeep Waves oil changes and tire rotations. They always filled the oil to the proper level. I did remind the service writer the first time after reading about some of the mishaps on this forum.

My first oil change and 5-wheel rotation for my 2.0T eTorque was at 3K miles. It was based on time, 6 months, not mileage. I did the other oil changes tire rotations every 6 months or 5K miles. My oil life computer reading said I had about 30%+ oil use life left on average whenever I changed the oil. 21,000 miles and not a single drop of oil ever used.

My 2021 JL Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon that I ordered at the end of 2020 arrived at my local dealership on 02-12-2021 and I took delivery of it on 03-01-2021. Because I only work 3 miles away from my house and I live in a very small town, as of this writing at the end of July, 2021 I only have approximately 1,650 miles on my Jeep so far. Once the engine gets broken in then I will put more miles on the Jeep by taking it out off roading in the mountains.

With all of my vehicles in the past, I have always used Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil in 5W-30 along with either an OEM oil filter or a Mobil 1 oil filter. I have also, always still changed my motor oil at every 3,000 miles even though many auto manufacturers say that you can now go 5,000 miles in between oil changes and you have synthetic motor oil saying that you can go anywhere from 10,000 miles in between oil changes, all the way to 25,000 miles in between oil changes just as long as you change the oil filter or oil cartridge with one of their brands every 10,000 to 15,000 miles.

I have also, always liked Amsoil and have also, always heard really good things about Royal Purple synthetic motor oils as well.

When I ordered my Jeep and ordered it specifically for off roading purposes, I also started doing a ton of synthetic lubricant research. After doing all of that research I have decided to run in my Jeep, the Signature Series Amsoil in 0W-20 and an Amsoil oil cartridge. I will still change the oil every 2,500 miles to 3,000 miles to keep continuous clean and fresh oil in the Jeep’s engine. I will also be running all Amsoil synthetic fluids in the front and rear differentials, transfer case and transmission. But I’ll probably wait until my Jeep has around 10,000 miles on it before putting those fluids in, to allow for all of those components to break in first. After that, I will change them out around every 25,000 miles or so that way those fluids also, always stay fresh and clean.

I'll chime in.

Plan to do it at 1000mi
Penzoil Ultra Platinum 0w-20 (3.6)
Fram Ultra Synthetic Filter
Will do myself to ensure everything is torque, etc. to specification and I can see the condition of the oil, etc.

I did mine yesterday, 4,664 miles. Replaced with pennzoil ultra platinum full synthetic 0w-20 and mopar oil filter.

Also installed a fumoto drain valve so I’ll never have to take a 13mm socket to it again.

In the future, oil change should take me about 20 minutes! Very easy on these motors, I’d never trust a tech to do it for me with how easy and enjoyable it is. I’ve had too many bad experiences with dealer oil changes unfortunately

Tell me more about that drain valve. Pluses? Minuses? I'm going to take a look!

Honestly I can’t think of any minuses. For $25 it’s a no brainer to me to get one, I ran one for a while on my old wrx, no issues. It makes changing the oil a breeze

I took delivery of my 2021 JL Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon in mid to late February of this year. Because I only work about 3 or 4 miles away from my house I have only put around 1,800 miles on my Jeep so far, as of this writing. So not quite 6 months.

Even though dealerships now recommend doing an oil change once every 5,000 miles, I will still do my oil changes about once every 2,500 to 3,000 miles and I will then, also do a tire rotation after every other oil change as well.

In the past I have always used Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil along with an OEM oil filter that I would always buy at the dealerships. But after buying my Jeep I began doing a ton of research on what fully synthetic motor oil is the very best to use? Even though I have always used Mobil 1 synthetic in the past, I always knew that Amsoil was the best but because it was never readily available, I always used Mobil 1 because I could simply drive down to my local Walmart or auto parts store and just buy everything from there.

After doing this latest research, I was blown away at how much better Amsoil was over other synthetic motor oils. I was also surprised to learn that Mobil 1 was not as good of a synthetic motor oil when compared to other synthetic motor oils, as I had originally thought. I always thought that Amsoil was the best then followed by Mobil 1 and Royal Purple next, and then all of the rest after that.

Royal Purple did show to be better than I had originally thought too. With it, I would always hear people say that it was either the very best stuff that there was, even over Amsoil. Or I would hear a lot of people say that Royal Purple is only believed to be good because so many people bought into and believed all of the hype about it when it first came out. And that it was only thought to be good because they sponsored a lot of auto mechanic related tv shows and so on but I never saw any independent test results of any of the synthetic motor oils until I began doing this recent research.

After doing my research I have decided that I will now be doing all of my oil changes using Amsoil Signature Series synthetic motor oil along with using Amsoil’s oil filters and/or oil cartridges. I was so impressed by what I learned from Amsoil that I even bought in to become an independent Amsoil dealer so I can save some money on buying all of their products for my families 4 vehicles. And who knows, I may even go out and talk to some of the local businesses and farms in my local area surrounding our small town and see if any of them would also like to start using Amsoil as well? With some of the farmers, I may barter and trade some Amsoil stuff in exchange for some delicious steaks from some of the cows that they raise for their meat.

I too am a firm believer in the superior quality of Amsoil products. I used to be a Pennzoil guy. I tried Royal Purple a few times as well. After I seen Project Farm YouTube oil championship and how Amsoil dominated to competition, I was sold. I swapped out my engine oil, transfer case and both differentials with Amsoil and couldn't be happier with the results.

I have 1800 miles on my new Rubicon JLR which an oil change appointment for this Friday... I have seen some Jeepers get an oil change like me as old school at 2k or 3k miles and the dealer said 7k...

So tell me what you did....

Miles?
Type of oil/filters?
Did you do the dealer freebee?
Why or Remarks?

I am a new first time owner of a jeep...well my wife is. I have 400 miles on her 2021 Snazzberry Willy's. This was my question too. I want to treat "snazzy" well and get lots of use out of her. I plan to change at 1000 miles and will do it at home w/synthetic. If I read correct, everyone recommends the Pennzoil 0W 20 I will take it to the dealer around the 5000 mile mark and get the 'free' change. then at 12.5K change it myself again. I will probably stick to 5000 or 7500 mile regimen unless someone here with more experience recommends otherwise.
