This guy always prefers to go for a drive but he prefers the truck to the Jeep.

may she is a winner , cute , super smart, very obedient and loving.. so far beat dog I ever had
That’s how we feel about our golden doodle, Dakota. She is also the most bonded/connected dog I’ve ever had. She’s quite a character.

After reading this thread, my Lab and I thought we'd share a couple tips. As a pup she tolerated topless/doorless, but really did not like it when thing were buttoned up. I suspect part of it is minor buffeting that my last JKU and my current JLU have with the HT on, but whatever the reason she's gotten a lot better. I used to have to catch her for "Jeep ride" but now she loves it.

In the summer, I usually run with the front hardtop panels on and the rest of the top off. To help fight off the sun, I installed a shade over the rear seats. Depending on the trip, she may be confined to the way back portion but it still helps. A related issue is how hot the black interior surfaces can get, even with the top and doors off.

In my JKU I pulled the female portion of center seatbelt through the seats and and used a short seatbelt leash and a harness. That's a little tougher to do in the JLU, so I use the seat belt leash with a threaded link attached to one of the child seat connectors. Make sure the leash is short enough that they can't partially abandon ship, intentionally or unintentionally.

Someone above mentioned a good point about their inability to perceive upcoming motion (I'm paraphrasing). From her earliest days, I got in the habit of saying "bump" when going over potholes or the annoying AF speed cushions in my neighborhood. I even say it when I'm by myself- you've got to be consistent. I also say "hang on" when doing maneuvers that may surprise her- sharp turns, hitting driveway aprons at speed, racing someone at a stoplight (I kid). Seems to help- I see her bracing for impact a bit so I'm sure it makes her more comfortable.

Here are a couple pictures of my Saint Bernard puppy in the Jeep. Rides in the Jeep are probably his favorite thing. He does go to the offroad park with us some of the time and doesn’t mind it at all. He’s generally pretty lazy and has plenty of room to sleep in the back when he doesn’t have his head hanging out.

I have the full Spiderweb Shade (pic above) and love it for humans and pup. It helps keep the sun off while still feeling open.
Sorry, the pic doesnot seem to be attached!

👍
i agree. he's usually wears his rexspecs on the bike. he's figured out his box pretty good.. above 40 he goes all the way in, 25-40 just has his head out, and under 25 half body out.

Back in my TJ days my 110 lb Bouvier des Flanders LOVED to ride in the Jeep. Pull the seat forward and his butt was in the backseat😊. He was a great dog..

Tiny Jeep dogs are awesome! I used to hate small dogs until I realized alot of them behave poorly because they were never trained the right way. Trained this little dude just like the many big dogs I have owned in the past.

Nice! My Neapolitan Mastiff hates riding anywhere in any vehicle. We just brought home an English Mastiff (Brindle, just like yours) in February that doesn't seem to mind riding in the Jeep.

Definitely agree with this. Yappy little dogs always get the special yappy little dog training from their owners i.e., Oh no! Yappy dog is yapping! /Applies infinite love and encouragement.

First thing I did with LittleDog was to get rid of the Shiba Scream, then overall bark reduction. Right now we're working on what are the correct circumstances to make noise, because he's the worst watchdog ever now.
