I had the Mopar lift on my JLURD with the Fox 2.0 shocks. I upgraded to MC full suspension with the 4.5" springs. I kept the Fox shocks originally, but the rear shocks rode rough and didn't have enough travel in them. I replaced the rears with the MC red long shocks and it rides better, but I would like to replace all 4 shocks in the near future.

Add our Willy's to the list of looking for something more substantial.

Just a couple of weeks ago those Little Red Riding Hood stock rear shocks on my wife's '23 Willys JL were replaced under warranty at 12K miles, both were drooling. It took the dealership nearly two weeks to get them in.

95% rural / town paved roads, 5% forest service / hard pack / dust over crust / gravel roads.

exactly the info i am looking for i feel the same way about my mc blacks what springs are you running?
I have MC GC 3.5 with MC black remote adj. Reservoirs. I feel the same about the ride on road. Very harsh on small cracks and bumps. Stiff on bigger bumps slow speed. Rides great and controlled otherwise when pushed with speed. Have also gone the route of a lightweight jeep..so hate to add weight to make the ride more compliant. Disappointed considering cost for the shocks. I need to do something different. Any suggestions without custom valving from accutune? If you've had the MC blacks and switched, would really appreciate your comments too! I rock crawl Sierras, run 14ers in CO, daily drive empty, and overland through Utah and Nevada with an offroad trailer...so multi-use and adjustable is my baseline.

I had the mopar 2.5 lift and fox 2.5 shocks with 35s and smallish 37s (actually 36). That ride was better than stock on the road and offroad. On road was a little soft when i ran heavy. Tire pressure really helped with washboard and rough roads but hat is expected with non adjustable shocks.

Yeah, I’m in the same boat as you. I have the medical blocks with adjustable on a 2.5 inch game changer lift. First thing I did was swap out the spring, which came with the lift which were rated at like 180 pounds and we’re quite stiff and that helped a little bit. I went with the synergy springs that have the same reading as the stock springs next, I added fox remote reservoir, but not adjustable which I wish I had done.
And they’re great on the street, but off-road on a granite style trail up in the big bear mountains here in LA lots of erosional divots crossing the trail and hard rock bumps.
And on here, I felt that the jeep was too under sprung and/orbunder damped bounced around quite a bit didn’t seem to be soaking up the terrain as much as bouncing over it

I have reached out to Accutune to see if they have a swap out program and see if I can get the adjustables from them and exchange for the ones I have no answer yet
At this point, I am considering going with custom tuned kings from filthy off-road, which I think is in Colorado
The problem is all the shcoks are around 3500+ install well as it sits right now. I’m not totally satisfied with my jeep. I mean, I love everything about it except I don’t like this severe bouncy off-road ride and it was hard on me and hard on the dogs.
I would love to see a good test of the top-tier and next to your top-tier comparison of shocks from fox King Beilstein and terra flex haven’t been able to find that on YouTube that stuff I found on YouTube seems to be too oriented to the manufacturer
In other words, one company who pushes fox, shocks a lot. Alays has a favorable. Review
In the meantime, I’ve got a nearly new set of metal black shocks sitting in my workshop
If you come up with any solutions, I would love to know or if you find any links, have a good comparison of the shocks shoot them this way

Currently running original red shocks no problems and around 25,000 miles. Front springs replaced with the 4 door 392 springs and a teraflex 1/2 inch leveling all around with front bump stop ext when I got the hemi conversion . The stock shocks are problem free so far and not leaking but I know sooner or later will need to replace them especially when the ko2's wear out. I'm currently trying to decide which shocks I should purchase. Mostly roadway daily driver and some forest roads. The jlr actually drives and rides great as is.

I am running ADS direct fit 2 1/2ā€ reservoir race shocks with synergy 3ā€ springs, and M/C duroflex control arms and track bars on my 23 Rubicon. Couldn’t be more pleased about this setup. The on and off road manners are excellent, very happy with how this turned out.

After 2 sets of Stock Rubi shocks in 60k miles i went with Falcon 3.3s. Then added 2ā€ lift terraflex springs to my ā€˜18 Rubi.
Very happy with the improvement all around.

Edit from post #7 on September 6, 2025.

I’m now on JTR Fox shocks and JLUR springs on my 2dr. The JTR Fox shocks are again night and day compared to the JLUR shocks.

And to follow up my post #7 I’ve now acquired 2024 392 XR or X take off suspension and will be installing that here soon. It came off of the 392 that Epic Adventure Outfitters built up with the MC 3.5ā€ GC on RockSport Black Resis on their YouTube channel and went to Guam! And the follow up video!
