What is This Sound?

I'm having a weird sound coming out from my 2.0 turbo engine.
The sound is occurring when the engine is warm and after a drive not on cold start.

When turned on, low RPM and major ticking sound comes up.

The dealer could not find the problem and fix it after more than 7 visits.

Is this common, please advise.

It is loudest on cold starts. Does anyone else get this sound at start? Sounds like grinding, maybe lack of oil since it's not pumping yet? Any ideas how to get rid of it?

Wastegate actuator im being told. See the small yellow circle, seems to be where the noise is coming from. I’m about 500 miles until the end of my warranty, might take it to the dealer this week. Mine seems to have always made the noise, only on cold starts and only lasts a few minutes.

Mines at the dealer for similar noise. Just became obvious enough right at the end of the powertrain warranty that I thought they'd find it. They did.
Trying to determine that it is the wastegate actuator or possibly a slipped timing chain. The service tech thought they could hear it slightly while putting pressure on the accelerator which made them consider timing chain. Only real obvious when cold and our 100* days aren't helping them with the diagnosis.
I did record the sound at start up and sent it to the service manager and let him listen to it to know what noise concerned me. He said it helped them know when the noise happened.
If you can get it on video/sound might be helpful to give them an idea. Service tech originally told the service manager he couldn't tell anything was wrong, SM said he heard it on the video and they let it cool off and tried again and they both said "yeah that's not normal" the second time.
I've got a loaner Grand Cherokee and they're taking care of me.
Will update as I find more out.

The 2.0 is a loud engine, especially on cold start but if you notice it getting louder please take it in because it’s not always normal. My 21 JLUR 2.0 has just under 30k miles and recently it’s been getting significantly louder for the first 5 minutes after cold start. I took it into the dealer this week and just found out they’re replacing the engine. Sort of bummed but at least they’re replacing it so I get to reset the clock for engine warranty. This Jeep has been perfectly maintained, oil changes every 5k miles, because I plan on keeping this one for a long time. Guessing I just got a bad one.

My 2023 JL 2.0 had a similar sound after start. When I purchased it, the dealer recommended a complimentary 5000 mile 1st oil change. Dealer recently did the the Oil change and after the engine was much quieter and my MPG also slightly increased.

What was the source of the increased sound that compelled warranty replacement of the engine?

Genuinely curious. I had the short block replaced in my YJ, which I purchased new, due to cylinder bores that were out of spec.

Complimentary? Jeep wave comes with 3 oil changes.

My Dealer Greenway Dodge in Orlando gave me 4 oil comps- 1st at 5000 miles.

Picked up my Jeep today. They found excessive wear on cylinder walls. 1 new engine later and she’s good as new. Hopefully it was just bad luck and this new power plant has a long and happy life.
