I've been chasing an interior clunk for some time now. It only seems to sound off when there is some sharp vertical movement, such as a bridge deck transition or a tar seam. It sounds as if it is coming from somewhere near the passenger rear door, near the plastic interior panels as if some heavy metallic object is bumping against one of those panels.

I've checked everything top and bottom, from the underside of the JL to the rollbar panels, tire carrier, suspension, exhaust, etc... and I have emptied everything out of the rear storage cubby. No luck so far.

My next step is to ride in the back seat and have the Domestic CEO take us for a ride so I can try to pinpoint it. If that helps me narrow down the possibilities I may be pulling interior panels.

Anyone here been plagued with something similar? Did you find anything? I'll share what I find, if anything, in case it helps other JL owners here.

This worked for me. The video shows a JK but it works on the JL also. T

Thanks for the info. I'll go check this out. It looks like he sort of split the difference between the forward most and rearward most position on the latch.

I have also heard of some people having the jack moving around in its storage area. Check that also.

Thanks for the tip. I have cleared all of that apparatus out of the rear compartment.

Try lubricating your door latches. I use DuPont Teflon Silicone Lubricant Aerosol Spray.
Thanks for the tip. I've lubed latches, hinges and even used some RV slide lube on the rubber seals around the rear window and tailgate. No joy with any of that.

I appreciate the input!

Does yours seem like something sliding at all? And is yours just vertical movement? I have something similar it sounds like, but mine is whenever I turn left it seems like the rear slides right. Almost like the rear end has spun out and regained traction, but the Jeep is under total control. I've checked the above items as well and had no luck.
