Thanks Gregj. I wonder if it bowed up from heat expansion or something. I’m confident that it’s causing 90% of the creaking noise, because it stops when I push it down.

Can you tell if yours is fastened down with anything?

Any suggestions how I might do that?

This is the Boss Ladies Jeep and she totes the grandkids. ?‍ She also has a pet cover on the seat because of them. Don’t worry, as soon as we get home said grandkid will be policing that mess.

That bar is only fastened to the top, somehow yours appears to be bent. Who knows how that happened. If it were mine I would take the top loose and raise it up and try to bend it back down. Here is a picture of mine, (hanging in my storage, I made sure there are no crumbs in the picture to stress anyone).

those in red? That looks like ridges on the underside of the bar. Mine is an early top and there were complaints of noise with them so maybe they added those ridges to stiffen the bar?

I was half joking but if it works it works. Did it fix your noise?

I put some temporary tape in the morning and it reduced the noise by 80%. I’ve only driven around the block since I Gorilla-ized it.
