While overlanding on forest roads in 4-hi and speeds under 20 mph I noticed my pressure dropping as low as 15 when stopping. Engine performed normally although definitely more diesel sound than I'm used to. Just want to confirm if ths is normal or not.

What I notice after overlanding for a week then hard offroad for a few days. Outside Temps in the upper 60s. Forest roads running under 20mph in 4 hi the pressure would be bello 18 and as low as 15 as I mentioned in original post. Oddly, rock crawling in 4 low the pressure stayed at 19 or 20 at idle. Engine ran great regardless but find the pressure difference at idle a bit odd.

'21 JLURD, I see 17 psi regularly when in 4L, have never gotten the low pressure warning.
Some time ago I contacted Jeep Cares with a question. I asked what normal pressure should be and was told that info is proprietary and they couldn't tell me.

Service manual spec for oil pressure is 1.1 Bar (15.9psi) at idle and 4.5 Bar (58psi) at 3600rpm when oil temp is 105°C (221°F). Hotter oil temps can result in pressure being a bit lower, cooler temps will be higher.

Mine is about 1 psi different between idling in park or neutral vs in drive. Steady 17 psi in neutral and 17-18 in drive.

(at the risk of this turning into a dreaded Oil Thread,..)

it might help to know what kind of oil we're talking about as well as what the Oil Temp is; there's a pretty good variance in the performance we're talking about. some oils will maintain viscosity/pressure when hot more consistently than others.

The oil pressure is just a calculation. It may or may not be reading incorrectly. I would postulate if it is in fact reading incorrectly you are already causing wear to some extent (could read wear as damage). But yeah guys it's fake...

What were your oil temps? That’s the more important question imo. I’d the oil temps were high that’s why the pressure was a little low.
