I see that the small battery needs to be charged, but about how much voltage does the big battery need minimum for the engine to start when it is cold?

Wow... that is one heck of a blanket statement.

You imply that you can just disconnect the Aux/ESS battery and the JL will still start. Not the case at all.... you will need a jumper in play.

Now, you can remove the JL's main battery altogether and with no jumper(s), etc. the JL will still start thanks to the Aux/ESS battery.

I need to try again.

If you press the starter button twice with your finger but your foot is not also pressing on the brake when you do this--so the vehicle is on but the engine is not.......

(maybe it's not accurate,) but what kind of voltage ranges is it okay for me to see when flipping through the diagnostics and getting to the voltage screen? Like is anything above 12V ok or should it be higher...maybe depends upon weather???

If this has been discussed I'm sorry just send me there.

And this voltage is both batteries combined right because (???) when starting up the engine before I go to work the two batteries only get isolated when the engine is cranked (by the auxilliary battery??????) but reconnect to each other when the engine is off or on right?

We can forget about the Engine Start Stop thing. I press that button to cancel that as soon as the engine turns over.
