Hi All

This is my first post - so I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered.

I just bought a 2020 Rubicon with the basic sound system. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can upgrade the stereo and speakers for less than $500?

Thank you!

I did the kicker speakers from a Dodge Dart (plug and play) on the top of the dash and a wired sub under the seat. Cost about $150 total and I love the difference for the price . Easy DIY and great results . Don’t expect award winning sound for that price point but it’s a Jeep and it’s way better than stock

I would upgrade your head unit first, than later on if you want to add a 5 channel amp new speakers and sub it's easy enough.

JVC makes 2 comptible amps and kenwood 1 (according to crutchfield) need a new dash kit, harness kit, a device module to set things up, and antenna cable.

Later on you can run a 5 channel amp with rca cords to the amp, and you can install new speakers as you can afford them,

Going this way allows you to run new speaker wire off the aftermarket amp to new aftermarket speakers very easily, while retaining all the oem functions.

on crutchfield you can get everything you need for about 500 more if you go for the expensive headunit.

This is the route I'm going, and slowly up grade all my audio/speakers slowly.

Thank you all.

Daga - any particular head unit you'd recommend? I have a 2020 JL rubicon.

I went with the jvc kwm650, because it was the cheapest one, yet to receive everything for the install update later

Alright peoples, I finally got my Alpine PWD-x5 installed, and I gotta say it is really impressive. If you want an all-in-one easy clean solution, look this unit up. It definitely exceeded my expectations, though of course opinions vary, but I highly recommend checking it out...sorry having problems uploading image, I had it installed where Alpine sub usually is behind right passenger seat, fits perfect...

Just set up my JLU with the Kickers front and sound bar.
I would go to this forum https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/plug-and-play-amp-upgrade-to-basic-system.51309/
If you want to keep it under 500.00, then I would get the T harness, wire harness from PacParts and add the Alpine 445u amp, with the Kickers you will be suprized.
When you get the money for a sub, you can easly add it,
This is PLUG and PLAY setup!
That setup is close to the 500.00 mark, including tax.
The guys on that forum are great at helping out, if I can install it, any ADD person can!
I have the 7 inch stock radio, I don't know about any other setup!
