I wasted about 20 minutes of my time tonight calling UConnect. My dealer gave me this same number. The dealer told me to go into the call and act like an asshole. I decided to go in the nice route. I decided no matter what the fate of the call was, it wasn't worth getting my Blood Pressure up over. In the end, the girl said I was out of warranty and there was not a recall ... so she could not help me. She suggested I look into getting an extended warranty. I just don't have time for this crap right now. Will wait until the screen is totally busted and worry about it then. I bought my JL in early 2018. I guess that is what I get for being an early adopter.
I mean if anyone can get theirs replaced under warranty that's awesome. I just didn't have that same experience. I went into the dealer, called Jeep Customer care, Mopar, UConnect and went around and around. They all told me to pound sand. I bought the Jeep used after 1 year and I don't go to the dealer for service. All those items played against me. See previous thread though, I just went ahead and fixed it myself.

My 2020 is pretty awful after 2 years (took delivery in September 2019). I'm hoping to get it replaced under warranty next week when I have my service appointment for it. I'm at just over 2 years and 32k miles. Anyone get any flak for replacement under warranty or should it be pretty cut and dry with the dealer?

Circling back on my post. My local dealer ended up covering this under warranty as premature wear for the anti glare coating. Slapped a screen protector on right after for posterity.

Anyone have any issues with delamination of the Uconnect screen? I noticed this tonight. It looked like a crack, so I removed the Mopar screen protector I had installed and saw this. It looks more like delamination when the screen is off. I'm almost wondering if there is a protective film that I didn't remove, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't one there when I took delivery. I'm afraid to go picking at it for fear of more damage. I think I remember taking the protective covering off of it at delivery, though. I'm at 38k miles, so we'll see if the bumper to bumper warranty covers it. If not, I do have an FCA lifetime warranty that should cover it. I just would rather avoid the $200 deductible.

You can see it up by the time in the top left. This is before I took the Mopar protector off.

Yup. My 2018 JL is doing this. Still works fine, just doesn’t look great.

FCA will replace it under "active" warrantee 3/36 for free anything after you'll pay deductible if applicable. Mine was 2 weeks after 3/36 and it cost me my deductible. Good luck.

Sure enough, I had noticed it too but thought that it was my screen protector that had lifted on the upper left corner and was gonna replace it when I have time. but after resding this thread, I pulled the protector and well damn it’s the screen. Still works perfect, but I’ll have to replace the screen when it gets unresponsive and/or starts acting up….. Sucks?

I have been looking at the screen protectors as a precaution against damage but after reading the various threads regarding delamination I am curious if there is a chance that the screen protectors themselves are causing the damage. How many of you that have the damage also had a screen protector in place? I really want to get the protector but am curious as to whether there is an association between the two.
Thank you for any replies.

I had a screen protector when mine delaminated. In fact, I though the screen protector was the problem until removed it. I put another one on once the radio was replaced though.

My 2018 Sahara out of warranty 38k miles. Screen is delaminated. Dealer says no recall on it. It is a shame to see how the OEM’s handle these things. I work for a large auto supplier and know the testing that our parts go through. This is a major failure from a supplier to FCA. We make a lot of parts for the Grand Cherokee and put huge amounts of time in testing. I would imagine the cost of the recall would be handled by the supplier to FCA but a failure this bad would probably put the supplier in financial trouble. it’s just a shame people pay a premium for Jeeps and have to deal with stuff like this.

Extremely nice of you to offer, but I think you guys can’t do much for us Canadians

Just got my 2018 JLUR's screen/radio unit replaced today in BC. Called the uconnect number maybe a month ago and argued to get a case started. A case manager called me after a few days and asked me which dealerships I would like to deal with. Named him a couple. He called back a day later and said my go to dealer denied the work but a different one approved it. I know who's getting my future business! The case manager then called the dealership and set everything up. Told me to call them and arrance an appointment for pictures etc. Dealership submitted. Got a call within a few days saying that they have ordered a new unit. Will be here in a week or so. Part came in. They called me to set up an appointment. Took in today and got it replaced. Took less than 2 hrs. Great service! Jeep doesn't have any extended warranty BTW.
