Has anyone swapped out the OEM turbo for an aftermarket turbo to increase HP, Torque, and Performance? Something like the Prodigy Performance Turbocharger System. If so, what was the results? Did it provide the improved performance you were looking for? And would you recommend it to others?

I’m considering either a turbo upgrade or an engine swap (392).

How much does it cost to swap in a 392 into the 2.0T wrangler? Seems it would’ve been better to just buy a 392 to begin with?

Even on the turbo upgrade (I’ve also seen the kits), I’m wondering whether it’s worth the steep cost considering this engine isn’t exactly built for it (lack of forged internals etc).

$40k...

It makes a lot more sense to buy a 392 used instead.

The question is tuning, you can put a larger turbo on, but can anyone tune it? Have you spoken to a tuner yet? Do you have your PCM unlocked?

MY 24 and up PCM‘s aren’t available for tuning yet. So that’s another hurdle

Look at the JB4 piggyback tuner. It really made a difference in boost. The turbo we have can already put out more than is being utilized. tuning will get you pretty good results for WAY less

Will do…

I received a couple of responses suggesting tuning first. I’ll give that a try and see what kind of results I can get. Thanks

Did you do the Burger tuning piggyback? If yes how were the results?

I understand the hesitation and curiosity about piggy backs, since they only change boost and nothing else. In this arena, JB4 is definitely the best tuner out there - both in terms of safety and gains. However, for 500$+ these gains are marginal. IF you do add some improvements to exhaust and intake, it will make a slightly bigger difference, but then you’re out 1500$+ for maybe 40-60 wheel hp gain. Most people who did it will tell you it was worth it. Their “butt dyno” is telling them.

Bottom line is I’m sure it’ll make a difference, but, at what cost? If you got the cash laying around, I’d say go for it. If you’re sensitive to cost-value on performance upgrades, then don’t.

Beautifully worded....I will not go for it then....Not that I am missing anything.
Just the initial lag is irritating...if only there was a way to correct that.

This is with typical exhaust and image bolt ons, a jb4, and water meth injection. 469 ftlbs to the wheels is only 40-60ftlbs gain... over the 392. $3k to have more torque than the 392 is pretty high cost to value in my book. 333hp to the wheels is close to 400hp at the crank. Only a modest 130hp gain or nearly 50% over stock. Even without the water/meth you're looking at 321/445 to the wheels which is a hell of a gain over stock for ~$2500. That's close to the numbers the v6 guys see adding a supercharger at $7-9k and not one of them has posted it wasn't worth it or noticeable.

Very impressive - badass really! I do think though you’ll lose most people at “Water/Meth” injection. Do you have a chart of your runs prior to Water/Meth? How much can you get out of all the standard bolt-on stuff plus JB4.

I edited the 1st post, but it's got the graphs with and without the water/meth. Red lines are no water/meth. Blue lines are with it on. Those aren't my numbers. When we had our 2019 with the 2.0t I just went with the unlocked ecu and superchips 93 octane tune. Dropped an entire second off the 0-60 which was impressive enough for me for the $1k including a 2nd unlocked ecu. Unfortunately that one was stolen in 2022 and the covid driven shortages meant the v6 was what we ended up on due to the very limited stock. Miss both the fuel economy and the acceleration of the 2.0t for sure. The v6 gets the job done but it's 2-4mpg worse and noticeably slower with similar builds.

There's numerous threads on the Pedal Commander and Banks Pedal Monster to reduce the lag. I havent tried the the Pedal Commander so I can't comment on that one. I chose the Banks Pedal Monster because it keep the stock reverse sensitivity.

I have a 4xe with 2.0t. I tried C&N CAI and Borla exhaust with minimal noticeable difference for the money. The Banks PM was a game changer when it came to reducing lag. I can't say it actually increases HP but it absolutely bring the response you expect to reduce the lag and put the power at the pedal when you want it. Its a simple plug and play and requires no tuning or modifications.
