Great thread with very helpful advice. My wife and I are planning a roadtrip out west to visit Moab and Utah's Mighty 5 national parks.

We have a mechanically stock 2-door Sport and would like to try some easy Moab trails that hopefully a non-Rubicon Jeep can handle. Would I need a lift and bigger tires to even consider trails like Fins & Things and Hells Revenge?

no both can be done in a ford crown vic. we had a guy in a 2wd toy tacoma follow us on hells revenge and he even did tip over challenge altho he came close to tipping over he did make it thru. My buddy who had never been off road in his life did fins and things with up in his jku sahara on factory tires without issues. He had a tow bar set up on his front bumper for towing behind his motorhome which made contact to the dirt a few times but no other problems.

Make sure you have either ToR of FunTreks so you know which obstacles to avoid. Don't want to end up at the bottom of Mickey's or the middle of escalator stock.

I've read that there are bypasses on the trails for those less daring. Are these bypasses clearly marked? Or do I need to find a map somewhere?

even as drunk as I get I don't think one could accidentally do either of those by accident....

bypass are very evident there is no way you could end up in Mickeys hot tub or on the escalator or the devil's staircase by accident. you really should buy the fun treks book or app for your ipad. makes for great reading and helps you plan the trails you want to do.

Escalator, Gate, and Tipover are well marked. They'll have maps at the fee gate.

You'll probably want to cut back over to the entry route and skip the rougher 5-6 exit.

Keep them coming! I ordered a couple of trail books off of Amazon for Colorado and Utah, as soon as they come in I will try to find these gravel roads and trails.
Your biggest challenge is only two days in Colorado. Any chance of adding a couple days on the front side? Try to plan to at east drive through Ouray Co. pronounced yourway If you have never been there before. That can be a scouting trip for next year vacation to that area.

Durango to Silverton to Ouray is a very nice highway drive. If you look around on the net there are places to find out if the high passes have been opened up yet from the snow. Probably be a thread with that info closer to the time. Sand dune desert around pikes peak is interesting, will absorb some time. My off-road experience in Colorado is with atv or sxs. Hope to add Jeep soon.

where have you already been in Colorado?
We stayed in Granby and each day we went out exploring as far south as Mt. Evans and north up to RMNP over to Estes Park and as many trails in between as we could do. The year prior we went out with another couple in a rental (Tahoe) just to sight see and stayed around Woodland Park. We visited Pike's Peak, Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, did the scenic route over Canyon City and white watered through the Royal Gorge.

Moab is gonna be so hot in July. Start trails early in the day and finish early too, if possible.
Hotter than CO? We were in Colorado the first week of July and it was really nice.

I have been to moab two different times in July and it is hot but no hotter than it is anywhere else in the summer time. I have been to Moab every month except august and never had a bad time whether it was hot or cold. Use common sense, bring lots of water and have fun. We are headed there in June this year. This was early July 2019 in Moab. I think it was about the same temps back home.

Okay
black Bear pass will probably not be open, but it is a really easy trail. It in my opinion is more like a level 3 for a trail. There is just one spot that is off chamber the rest is just big drops off. The switch backs are no harder than navigating a parking lot. It is the highest that bother most people If your not afraid of heights, It is not a big deal. It is very pretty though.

I would say you could do Ophir pass to Tellurite, then Imogene Pass to Ouray.

I took this trail called interstate 76 when i was driving from Detroit to Moab a few weeks ago, I think its rated as a 3 or 4 but it will make you question if you have death wobble the entire trail

YIKES!
Looks like I need to pack the speedos. I got a soft top just for this trip so we could wheel with the top down once we arrived. Looks like that might stay up for the AC :)
