The “sniffer” one? Me too, the fewer surprises the better when doing wiring. If you had the other one you would be set to test the extension cord voltage drop. But a lot of people are trying to spend your money here. 😂
I have an Amazon list of just @roaniecowpony influenced purchases.

Taking @roaniecowpony's advice and hooked charger up to a different battery. So far no error light so pointing towards the battery in my Jeep having a short.

@THAW - Next test was to swap out the cord and try charging the Jeep again. I borrowed a 25ft 12/3 cord from a friend today. I turned the Jeep around and this is the best I can do with 25 foot cord to the nearest outlet. I have a 30ft one showing up on Saturday which I think should get the Noco up off the ground and into the engine bay.

Right now charging is pulsing on green. I'll see what it shows tomorrow. So maybe it was the drop in voltage on the thinner, longer cord. Could also be I knocked the clamps off the battery when closing the hood. A lot of factors going on.

Nice. Be sure to update us about whether the charger stays up and running. @Terrymo gets credit for the cord stuff, since I was most recently thinking it might not help.

How long did it take to go green?

It was stuck on orange for about 2 hours and as soon as I plugged it into the thicker cord it turned green pretty much right away.

Tomorrow's project is to disconnect the battery from the Jeep if it shows charged and check the voltage over the weekend to see if it's dropping. Stay tuned for an exhilarating episode 2 of The Battery Chronicles.

Ok reporting back in at 8AM. The charger showed solid green. I disconnected it and then pulled the clamps off the posts to check the voltage. It's reading 12.83V. I used some battery cleaner and cleaning brush on the posts and now will let it sit and check it again after 12 hours, 24 hours then 48 hours and see if it is losing voltage.

The only thing less exciting than watching a battery charge is watching a battery discharge.

Also if those clamps are being uncooperative I believe you can unbolt the eyelets from the clamps and attach directly to a stud in the terminals. If not, or the inner diameter of the hole is too small here is another option since we all seem eager to spend your french fry money.

Yeah I suppose that is an option also. If the battery is good I think I'll keep the clamps and just check it more often. I'd love to get a new axle in there by end of April and start driving it again but I just don't know if that can happen.

That's what I have on my JL. Works great, and for the quality, a better bargain than a jumbo order of French fries. Not as tasty though...

Personally, I've never liked terminal clamps, except in emergencies.

This is from the Noco website. So it would go under the nuts that clamp to the post itself?

I do actually have one of those Klein outlet testers. I bought it when one of my lights went out in my laundry room and I had to figure out why. I wanted to make sure if I was messing around with switches and outlets I knew if it was hot so I didn't shock myself. 😂

Good job. when they retrofitted that house and removed the candleholders and put in electricity when offroad vehicles were horse drawn, they used cotton covered wire.

I would avoid putting terminals under clamping bolts/nuts. Your battery terminals have places to attach terminals. Use those instead.
