I'll be building a small utility trailer for the Sahara. Picked up 72' of 2x2x3/16 wall from a plant closing. I've built a couple before but this time I want to use factory jeep wheels. I know I can buy the correct bolt pattern hubs but my concern is the rim fitting over the bearing housing. Does anyone know if I have to use wheel spacers to clear this problem ?

Wheel spacers will cure the hub issue. Size the axle accordingly.

was hoping to stay away from spacers.
They wont cause any issues, as trailer axles aren’t driven or steered. But I agree, I’d rather have the hub of the axle bolted to the hub of the wheel itself.

Try browsing the websites of Southwest Wheel or eTrailer to see if they have hubs that will work.
