Got my brake control installed today. Took a bit of time but added some tasks as well. If you are careful with 2 small pocket screwdrivers you can get the power outlet out without damage. The special tool shown is not needed. Some errors with the Instructions and parts. One, when installing the gain switch the instructions show having the gain knob at the "1" position. Not. The switch will not snap in at that point. You will need to look down in the knob hole and line up the slightly wider slot to match the switch shaft. Then it snaps right in. BTW the controller does not use the power outlet wiring. That I extended and relocated to the right side of the console. I wanted it on the lower dash forward of where I placed it, but there is an aluminum reinforcement in that area. I did have to unclip the PRNDL harness and push it down to clear the back of the quite balky power outlet assembly. I also while in there hard wired my dash cam and installed ( a too bright) LED to illuminate my aux. switch panel as I have placed ID labels on the switches and now they are dark at night. I need to filter the lamp a bit. As far as hardware, I found the bracket to be installed backwards on the brake control unit that bolts under the dash. Once I flipped that around, it fit in the location shown in the instructions. It is a bit tricky getting it in the specified spot. But it is there now. If your vehicle has factory trailer tow, the wire from the back is taped up near the brake switch. It all plugs right in. Haven't tested it with either of my 2 trailers that have brakes, but I did press the manual center button and instantly got a trac off, auto stop disabled and stability light. So I guess it defaults off for trailer tow with brakes? Cycled the ignition and went away. I also wanted to retain the little aftermarket cubby I had already installed, so I cut a hole in it and it works with the power outlet. Hope this helps.

Excellent job, looks really nice. I appreciate the write up and pictures. I really like the whole way you relocated the 12v.

Quick question, to install the brake controller and relocate the 12v and put it back together. How long did it rake you? Thanks

I did several other things while in there, so can't say for sure. Took a morning for what I did. Just the controller maybe an hour not including relocating the power outlet.

So 2 hours tops for both and buttoned up. Did you have to extend the 12volt wire with a splice? My Jeep is at the dealer they didn't finish the work. They are saying a splice is required for the 12v relocation and dash has to be removed. I seen your pictures and its clips on dash 5 minutes and gear console 10 minutes. Did I miss anything?

Yes, I did extend the power outlet harness. Dash doesn't need to be removed. I did pop up the bezel around the shifter and the right side forward console panel. And dropped the glovebox for hand access. Not really a big deal.

Thank you, dealer overbooked so I have to bring it back November 23rd. Service Manager was made aware of the screw around by the Advisor and technicisn and will fix it with me when the work is done. My Jeep was left over night for no reason. A bit agitated. I went through the issues on the forum with the Manager and he is interested to see if this controller will work or not and if so why it is or why it's not.

That bulletin would’ve been great for @Jeep cares to post. But of course members have to inform jeep cares. Another example of Jeep cares fail. This is the perfect example where they could’ve posted that info. share the information affectively and probably what they were originally designed for in the first place.
