Looking to get a used Lance 1475 to tow with my 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe Jeep has the Trailer–Tow and Heavy–Duty Electrical Group Package.

Dry weight is 2,500, GVWR is 3,700 (https://www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2018-lance-tt-1475-travel-trailer-specs-tr36209)

Tongue Weight is 240lbs

Length 19.67 ft. (236 in.)

Width 7.06 ft. (84.75 in.)

Height 9.75 ft. (117 in.)

Interior Height 6.5 ft. (78 in.)

We would be two adults and 67lbs of dogs (two)

Assuming we don't exceed 3,500 is this doable?

I would add a brake booster, weight distribution hitch and some rear helper springs.

It'll do it, but it won't be happy. My 3.6 doesn't even like my 10 foot utility trailer. It will most likely be in 5th/6th gear or lower your whole towing life.

Rear air bags or HD springs might be needed. The 4xe springs are optimized for road driving comfort and given the rear axle weight is 440lb more than a regular wrangler, I am sure you will see severe sagging when towing.

You might want to consider re-gearing as 3.73 might not be cutting it for long stretches of towing esp if the terrain is hilly.

6th and 7th likely.. it has plenty torque to keep up. The only situation where its going to go turtle mode is when you have been towing uphill for a long long time (say 100kms) and there is not enough regen/charge going into the battery for effective hybrid operation. At that point the engine is going to work harder to pull it + do some battery upkeep for delivering the spec defined hp and torque. Its an edge case and even folks who tow with 4xe haven't reported to have encountered it in the FB forum or here.

Frontal area is going to be pretty large for a Jeep, be careful you don’t wind up with the tail wagging the dog.

That's my concern, too. Just about every trailer out there will exceed the 30 sq. ft. frontal area limit.

Based on the RV specs he listed the frontal surface area will be 68 sq ft, over double the 30 sq ft you note.

How long will a 4XE run on just electric power while towing, 1/2 mile? About the same distance a 392 will go between gas stations, LOL?

I'm sure it will be fine though. Enjoy your Jeep.

See here, you should have no problems. Just keep an eye on the temps if you're tackling big hills in high temps and be prepared to slow down a bit, frontal area is as big an issue as the weight imo:

In terms of controlling it, a WD hitch and brake controller and it should be perfectly stable. With regen braking stopping is not difficult at all and it will prevent any kind of brake fade in hill descents as you don't actually need the brakes, just regen.
