My first Jeep was a YJ. Took the hard top off every summer and ran most days with just a bikini top, even under cloud bursts. Total feeling of freedom. I took the top off a few times on my TJ after that and on my current JK, took the roof off once, just to take the soft top off and I stored it in the basement where it remains. Brand new never used since Valentine's day 2013. I remove the front panels from time to time on my JK but that is the extent of it... Its nice to have a vehicle that allows so much flexibility.

Absolutely! My first Jeep was a YJ. What a PITA to take the top off!

Ok people.... My first Wrangler Sport I had leaks, It was in 3 times for this problem. After checking last week after being up North in upper Wisconsin, Yep wet again. So I did a trade for a new Wrangler Sport Unlimited JL. So anyone have any horror stories yet for leaking Wrangler JL's?

First wrangler. I am in the Virginia Beach area where it will most likely rain almost daily. I don’t have a garage to park in. I just got a new exterior storage unit so that I can pull up and take the top and doors off. I’ve ordered bartact front seat covers and I’m waiting in the rear covers to be available. I think as long as the weather is 70+ I’ll just run topless all summer and get one of those pull over covers for any storms or night time storage.

I know people spend a lot of money for their jeep... I got my jeep for my dog, he wanted either the 4Runner or the wrangler. Now I have to get a new house for my wrangler... and people wonder why I’m single... I can’t afford to be in a relationship with all this commitment to myself!

I'm going with the dualtop. I'll take the hardtop off in the beginning of April and put the soft top on. But it'll be top down as long as it's not raining! Hardtop will go back on around Thanksgiving.

Yup, it was not a simple task. My rear folding bars broke off on a trip from Montreal to New Orleans LA. It was so hot, that the roof expanded and was flapping like crazy until the bars snapped. I had to duck tape sticks in place to hold the roof up. It was a great jeep but much maligned because of its square headlights...

I think the tops have been pretty good, from what I’ve read.

I'll tell you this much, before I move to Seattle, I'm sellin' all my tops. Only in California during the dry season do I put the top on. (NOT);)

What a PITA! Manual labor accurately describes taking that top off!

It really is! Yesterday I had a father dog day. We went to the beach, hung out at the state park, walked some trails and then had lunch at a tap house and split some chicken tenders. Owners came out and gave him a couple plates of chicken as well! Yesterday was the first day in my life that a cop pulled up behind me and smiled... I have been riding with the window open so my dog can enjoy the ride!

With my JY I had the top down as much as I could. I am planning to do the same. I got cold weather group so I can have it down when it is a little colder. I will get a shade top so I can keep the top down when it is a little too hot. I never took the doors off on my YJ (they were half doors anyway) but I am hoping to run doorless a lot too. Honestly if I wasn't going to take the top down I might buy something other than a Wrangler. It's all about the convertible top for me.
