You can't see it, you can't smell it and you can't feel it. Thats why folks aren't taking this as serious as they should, even a FART gives you a heads up (most of the time) but not this virus its just going to take.

Does anyone know if masks can be broken down and recycled in any way? I'm leaning on no given the mix of materials plus what it's used for. I'm already seeing MANY discarded masks on the ground around my supermarkets. Damn I hate people sometimes...

There seems to be a lot of self-centered thinking on this thread. If you're relatively healthy, the science says you should be "fine" even if you get the virus. But it's not about you and people need to realize that.

The comparison to car accidents is completely asinine. If you get into an accident, you don't risk killing the people that you encounter for weeks thereafter, as you would with the virus.

Is there some overreaction involved? Maybe. Probably, even. But when confronted with a novel threat, better to overreact than underreact. The older generation raised us and took care of us, selflessly (for the most part). Why is it so hard for people to understand the concept of returning the favor and not putting them at unnecessary risk? You love your parents? You love your grandparents? Then do your part to protect them.

Maybe you should be staying at home like they are asking everyone. If you are concerned about driving around and catching it then there shouldn’t be anything so important that you need to be out anyways.

This virus is a serious situation. That said I don’t thing there is anything we can do to guarantee we won’t be infected. When driving, open air or not, I can often smell cigarette smoke from other drivers. I am assuming the virus could travel just as easily. The best we can do is to avoid others, wash hands, and live healthy. My brother’s father in law died of this yesterday and my wife lost a second cousin Saturday. This is ugly.

I think everyone should stay home, get stoned or drunk, whichever you fancy and explore your sexual kinks during these trying times.

I think if I'm dropping the top It will only be when I spend the day roaming the country side with a pre-packed lunch and dinner. Usually, I liked to spend the day roaming, find some local brewery, and then fall upon a nice restaurant for dinner to finish off the day... Not worth the risk these days. Especially when I already know I can get a mouth full of someones cigarette/vape smoke just by sitting in my Jeep behind them at a light. If I can get that, I can also get a mouth full of Covid-19. It's definitely the down players that you see riding around with their windows down, and in & out of stores (those that are still open). Unfortunately ignorance can cost you your life these days.

I think this is going to be a very long thread. We are talking about giving up our open air driving freedom here. This is the reason we own these vehicles in the first place..

It is serious. Ask anyone in healthcare in a large metropolitan city like Chicago, NY, Detroit, LA. I think areas that are asking everyone to self isolate and shelter in place are doing the right thing to prevent overburdening our healthcare workers and hospitals. People will start realizing when they know someone infected or within 2 or 3 degrees of separation. Hopefully it does not take that to make people take it more seriously. It's a terrible and lonely death. No one can be with the person infected as they are suffering and dying. Funerals are limited to 10 people in many States. Like you said, it's ugly. We all need to do our part. Sorry to hear of your losses.

I think we're probably fine. The latest seems to say that the virus does NOT linger in the air. So if someone sneezes within 6 feet of you, the virus particles can reach you. However, if someone sneezes in a grocery aisle and then you walk through there 30 minutes later, you're safe. I know some of the early thinking was that the virus would stay suspended but now they're walking that back. They're saying that the spread would be much more widespread if the virus stayed suspended. In the end, I don't think anyone is sure though.

Incidentally, I put my soft top on this morning.
