I've only ever had sportscars. 66 Mustang, 95 Camaro, 00 Firebird convertible, 00 Trans Am WS-6, 08 G8GT, 17 Camaro SS. Then got the Jeep. Big change, but I haven't looked back!
Similar story for me - I mean I've also had lots of non-sports cars too, but definitely had my share of sports cars as well. My favorite was an 07 Audi S6 with a 5.2 V10, but that was also the last sporty car I ever owned and I've never looked back. I pretty much "got it all out of my system". Now I'm much happier driving around in a giant roofless brick that bounces its way down the road at the speed limit. It's a totally different sort of fun than a sports car, but still every bit as fun, and I'd even argue maybe even more fun. Easier to stay out of trouble, too.

And funny enough, I get way more attention in my Jeep than I ever did in my Audi. Not that I really care about attention (actually quite the opposite), but it's just something interesting I noticed. Almost everyone appreciates a nice Jeep, most people don't really care that much about sports cars these days.

It's LEGAL fun!

Yeah, my Camaro was amazing. But, you gotta be doing some majorly illegal speeds for it to be fun on the road.

Compared to going 45 in a 55 with a Jeep, with the top/doors off, foot resting on a foot peg, with Jimmy Buffet blaring.

How was your transition?

In my mind a jeep is still a sports car, but just that of a different sport.

All it takes is one stint in a rental. That’s how I fell in love with Jeep ?
Funny, that rings a bell. We had a JK rental back in '12 for one night. Went to the beach with the top off and was hooked again. The wife ended up with a 2 door Sahara that year. I got a 14 JKU the year after.

Well, my 2000 Firebird was a regular V6 (with a T-5 manual!) convertible. Dark blue, tan top, tan leather.

Then I found racing. Sold that, bought this (not mine):

Then turned that . . . into this (mine!):

That's a gorgeous Firehawk! What are those wheels? The stock ones, but in a black chrome?
The car came with chrome wheels from factory, so I bought a set of trashed Firehawk wheels from another Firehawk nut and had my buddy's wheel repair shop fix them and refinish them in gunmetal gray. Still have original chrome wheels with original Firehawk tires on a tire dolly.

If it's unmodified, those things are going for quite a pretty penny these days. Probably like anything, they will just continue to appreciate.

Frankly, with the exception of the dash and door switches, everything on the 4th gen Pontiac Firebird LS1 cars is just gorgeous.

How I feel when I see some of y'all's customs. I cannot afford 40s and an Icon suspension.
I'm gonna go have myself a good cry.

Great looking Firehawk! I've always fanboy'd over the LS1 T/As. I had a 2000 Lightning that I raced and modded fairly heavily, so I spent a lot of time on the old LS1.com scoping out the competition. I wound up selling my Lightning because it was at the point of needing a cage to keep running 1/4s, but it was still my daily driver. The seller's remorse hit me hard, so I wound up buying a LS2 GTO for my wife a few years later. It was fugly but fun when it was running right. We eventually ditched it because it had a bunch of electrical gremlins and left us stranded a time or two.
