How is it possible that after SEVEN model years, Jeep dealers are still acting like deer in the headlights...?!?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume dealer tech turnover is pretty high. Probably unlikely that the person working on your Jeep has been Jeep only for 7 years.

If true, that’d mean that Jeep dealers’ access to centralized information SUCKS.

Which is another big possibility onto itself.

BTW, a core element in Toyota’s ā€œsuccessā€ is not that they are better or smarter than anyone else. Toyota simply puts a lot of effort behind sharing information and pushing it to the end users (such as service advisors and dealer techs) as much as possible. So that no matter who ends up working on your vehicle, that person will still be able to get the work done.

I would call around to other dealers in the area to see if they have any techs familiar with the 4xE (Its not THAT new, your dealer sounds even more inept than the norm which is bad enough)
ALL OF THIS.
If they're scared of the 4xe and don't follow established procedure, they can destroy your HV battery.
How do dealerships even get away with selling a vehicle that they haven't bothered getting their techs trained on?
You can try 1-844-533-7928 (1-844-JEEP WAVE) if you're covered under that program.

BTW, the OP’s story has multiple layers.

To name a few:
  1. Jeep’s ongoing battery issues
  2. Jeep dealers’ ongoing inability to diagnose and repair the most basic issues, no matter how common
  3. Stellantis’s inability to grasp the fact that we are not just buying a ā€œvehicle,ā€ but a basic tool that allows us to go about our daily lives. When such tool breaks down, fixing the vehicle is only half the battle; the other half is keeping that customer able to continue about his/her daily life —e.g. offering loaners, rentals, the prompt return of their fixed vehicle, etc.
  4. The humiliation from buying an expensive, high-emotion, high-visibility vehicle like a Jeep Wrangler, only to have it everyone see it get winched onto the back of a flatbed truck. Does anyone believe the OP will ever again open her mouth to her coworkers to share how thrilled she is to own a Jeep?
  5. The unflattering Jeep stories that are about to be shared around by dozens, perhaps hundreds of people over that upcoming wedding

It's the 12v almost guaranteed. Not all dealers suck, wife's 12v went bad, called dealer they said it's the 12v most likely over the phone, swapped in a 12v from the gladiator, drove to the dealer and they handed me a 12v to swap in the parking lot so I wouldn't even have to wait for a bay.

1. Jeep had an issue, yes, it happens.
2. It was towed to a dealer who can't look at it IMMEDIATELY AT THIS MOMENT right meow.
3. A rental vehicle wasn't immediately provided, if you know Jeep, you know this is SOP, there is nothing in the owner's manual to my knowledge that guarantees immediate provision of a rental vehicle.
4. OP looks like lives in a warm place...is it really unbelievable that a battery could have gone bad <3 years?
5. Getting ourselves to work and having alternate transportation is ultimately our own responsibility, because stuff like this does happen sometimes.

What am I missing?

Yup. That’s what I hear.

I continue to look for that mythical ā€œgoodā€ Jeep dealer...and for Sasquatch... ?

I was a very early 4xe adopter. Ordered minbefore they hit the lots. The first year was hell with issues. No major issues, but constant problems, some disabling. It spent over 60 days in the shop over a 4 month period, included one time for 35 straight days. Here is what I learned:

1) I’m lucky I’m WFH and can use my wife’s vehicle.
2) Jeeps dealer network is worse than anyone can imagine until you experience it for yourself
3) jeepcares did nothing for me
4) get a star case opened and document EVERYTHING

Do not trust they document anything accurately, their service records will flat out lie. Point in case: one dealership marked my vehicle repaired when a part was on back order too long so they could close out the ticket. To them, they just had to reopen the ticket, to me Jeep wouldn’t reimburse rental or payments with a closed ticket. Shady.

Ultimately I got a months payment forwarded to me for resolution on all the issues. Not ideal, but a moderately satisfactory gesture to a bad situation.

The Jeep itself is awesome! I LOVE the 4xe for my situation also. The dealer network is what will turn so many away. I honestly start to wonder if Stellantis treats their dealerships like their dealerships treat customers. I just don’t understand when the dealerships are getting paid for the warranty work, why do they shit all over the customers brining it in??

Sorry OP for all of this. I can feel your pain.

So if Jeep replaces the battery with another junk battery well, seems like destined to happen again. With that said, what is the goto replacement battery that people are using to avoid these issues.

So sorry to hear this, but not surprised in the least. After decades of CJ and Wrangler ownership, this is just another example of poor quality made worse by gratuitous, overly-complex systems and arguably the worst customer support in the domestic market. Unfortunately, this is what we've all bought into as JL owners, and the only way to avoid it, is to just switch to a more reliable brand/manufacturer. Many of us have experienced similar issues, so we're all pulling for you. Sure hope this gets solved soon, and best of luck.

Yes, a key part of the reason dealers treat Jeep owners so poorly is because Stellantis treats its dealers poorly. As the saying goes: shit rolls downhill.

Stellantis does not pay dealers for the time it takes them to diagnose the problem, and only pays them half their regular labor rates for warranty work.

Add to that the fact that Stellantis keeps making it harder and harder for warranty jobs to get approved; many dealers don’t even want to deal with the hassle.

Speaking as a non-4Xe owner: I found Auto Zone’s own Super Start batteries to work like a charm.

O’Reilly Auto Parts’s store brand batteries should work just as well.

This makes me wonder if anyone in that company actually drives a Jeep. Because there is no way they haven’t experienced these issues with dealers, techs, etc.
