The Trasharoo Problem

I too chose the one that goes on the spare. PITA when it comes has to come off.

I know it is an old thread, but I can't figure out why it is a PITA to remove the license plate. I have the same LOD system. There are two 3/4 inch nuts holding the plate on, and I put an electrical disconnect for the wiring- basically a 4 way trailer plug. Takes an extra 30 seconds.

As for the Trasharoo, I don't have the rack. I strap mine to the top of the tire when on road, then when we are going off road, I cover the plate and camera. When we get back on road (usually a week later) I dump the trash at the gas station and strap the bag back on top of the spare again. Not an ideal solution, but it is better than having the trash in the Jeep with me.

Found this searching for a solution for myself. Hot Heads has a mesh trail sack that can hang below the camera... a bit overpriced, IMO, but it's definitely another option.

Just use a cheapo soccer ball bag from Amazon ($5) and two bungee cords around the spare tire. Works flawlessly!

I just run my trasharoo as is. I have it slightly lower than the license plate so it doesnt block that. I've run it this way for almost 2 years without any issues. Mainly have it on when i am hitting some trails and not for daily driving. The trasharoo hangs low but i havent seen any issues with it getting ripped up on the rocks. There arent much scrape marks on the bottom of it and has been holding on pretty good.

This is like the Jeep equivalent of saggy pants. But it works.
