I also have the Smittybilt relocation bracket installed on my JL with a 35” spare. The rubber pieces are making constant contact with the spare tire and yet it vibrates A LOT, even over small bumps. I can’t imagine this is good for the tailgate. Looking for another solution now, as I’m definitely not going to keep it this way. Pretty disappointing
I’ve experience the same thing. My Smittybilt has a 37 on it and it jiggles like Jell-O. I’m going to need to replace it soon

I used the RC relocation bracket. It is well made but locates the tire way up. I added some fabricated bumpstop extenders made of plastic tubing and PVC caps to the factory bumpstops. No squeeks or rattles

This is Motobilts JK version of their carrier, looks to be pretty solid. Hopefully they will post up a video like this for the JL version soon.
I wonder how it will compare to the EVO body mount carrier.

It will hold a 37" for sure. Testing out the larger tires currently and making some tweaks to it.

What are some tire carrier options other than EVO, that will push back a -12mm offset wheel closer to the tailgate, thus preventing the backup sensors from detecting the spare (current issue I'm having with stock carrier and LoD relocation bracket)? EVO option looks great and all but that backup camera/brake light solution doesn't seem feasible for long term use/abuse.

That arrangement will not work with backup sensors. I tried my 37 on stock carrier and worked great until I went to back up. That’s why I went to relocation to clear sensors. Looks like it is about the same height.

Well it really will depend on how far your tire and wheel combo sticks out and if it’s in the path of the sensors.

It looks like Motobilt and the EVO carriers are much closer to the gate, so this allows more clearance from interrupting the path of sensors and will allow one to run a lager tire.

Motobilt is still under testing this carrier so they will know what will work when it’s done.
A 40” tire may have to mount higher up to clear the sensors path depending on the offset of the wheels being used, or maybe 40” is just too much tire to be able to work with the sensors all together.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Our carrier has multiple adjustments to move it up or down and forward and back. You will be able to move the tire back to the point where it is actually touching the carrier itself. We do not reuse the factory mount but rather provide a new heavy duty adjustable steel mount.

what will your solution be for the camera and 3rd brake light? hoping something more stout than what the EVO solution looks like.

Haven't seen theirs but ours will mount in the center of the tire
