I don't care if subjectively goofy colors, like Tuscadero, are part of the Wrangler's available palette. Just don't bump classic paint choices like Ocean Blue to make room for them.

Time-honored colors should be a core (i.e., constant) part of a vehicle's available paint selections. The addition of faddish or invented shades should occur only when and only for as long as perceived demand requires, and never at the expense of the classics.

The other thing that comes to mind is that the OEMs might consider cooling their heels on offering literally 3 or 4 shades of Silver and Gray, a Black and a White, and nothing else. I've seen that very construct evident with different brands, or individual vehicle trim levels, every now and then.

I’m a big fan of the High Impact Colors. I’ve ordered Challengers in Go Mango, Pearl Redline Red and my current Hellcat is IndiGo (also a pearl color). But at the end of the day I’m on my 3rd Firecracker Red Wrangler! A red Jeep is just classic.

Gonna order a 2027 2 door Rubi X when it’s time in white. Really wish Silver Zynith was an option. Maybe it will be for 27? Is it possible to pay extra to get a custom color I wonder? I know with my Porsches you can order PTS (Paint to Sample) and pretty much get close to any color you want.

While true, why not more shades of red/black/white/etc. other than the short lived Snazzy has a cranberry or other than firecracker/engine red been offered ? My GC is Crystal Black not plain black, plain white, no tri ivory or similar offered….. heck, the 2A offered 5 shades of red, 5 blues, 4 greens - 21 color options.

I like the bright colors. I bought a red two door in last fall to replace my ā€˜19 hella yella. My wife has a reign wrangler. I get the brighter colors are not for everyone, but my wife and I like them.

on the fence about shopping for a base wrangler in tuscadero….only regret I have with my red 2 door is it’s a 2 door. I should have bought a 4 door.

I don't think Goldilocks is metallic, but maybe I'm wrong. Dirt Road Cred has a video out on YouTube where they show theirs off. They got the first one. It looks orange to me!
Well, I didn't know if it was metallic either, but the pics of the Amp'd color at an auto show made it really "glow" like it was metallic (or pearl). However, that Dirt Road Cred video you recommended confirmed that it is. Here's a quote from that video:

""....there's an absolute ton of metallic in the paint. You can really see the flakes in the clearcoat. As you walk around, the color does change from dark to light. There's a lot going on with it. There's a lot of flake in the color. Reminds me of Bikini because the color really changes."" Prior to that comment the guy said the 3-character paint code is PYC (same as Amp'd) AND that the official name of it in the paint code section is: Amber Pearl Metallic Clearcoat.

BTW, I like pearl paint almost as much as metallic - either one is totally acceptable to me.

My 2008 Sahara's paint name is "Rescue Green". It's a great looking 'yellow-green' metallic (or pearl) and I haven't gotten tired of it even after 18 years. I love the color, but just don't care for the name....."Rescue"?!?! I know exactly how that happened though. Right before the 1st 4-door Wrangler came out in 2007, there was a concept vehicle called The Rescue. They painted IT that yellow-green color, so when it came time to name it as one of the actual production colors for the 2007 4-door, they obviously just "mailed it in" by calling it the name of the concept vehicle. The 'Rescue' did morph into the 1st 4-door Wrangler.

The 1st time I saw The Rescue was at a Dallas auto show. I was so impressed with the color, I asked the girl MC with the mic, what color was it and she checked her notes and said it's called Extreme Green Pearl which would have been a better final name than Rescue Green.

I don't understand anyone who gets anything besides red, black, or even white if you especially don't care and are probably color blind. I know, if you're a girl it's different.

Hmmm, I just realized something. In Amp'd's official name: Amber Pearl Metallic Clearcoat, if you switch the words 'Pearl' & 'Metallic', you have its abbreviation as: AMP !! I wonder if that's how they came up with Amp'd ?

I also realized, Gina, I forgot to thank you for mentioning the Dirt Road Cred video. I actually found 2 very helpful ones - the other being the announcement that people can now (as of May 1st), order a Willys 392 that dropped back in February.

My dealership has on order 2 Goldilocks JLs that will be in at the end of this month and I was holding off ordering mine until I could actually see one. However, because of your recommended DRC video, I don't feel that I have to wait. I'm comfortable locking down the Goldilocks color right now. The only thing is, it will probably still take me 'til the end of the month to decide among these trims: Willys, Rubicon (non-X) & the Willys 392. I really don't think I can justify the 392's cost, but I don't want to eliminate it just yet.

For any of you that have bought a 392 Hemi (Rubicon or Moab), how loud is the engine when it's completely stock from the factory ?

It depends.

If the performance exhaust is off (flow through the muffler) and you don’t lean on the throttle hard, not very loud. You still have the throaty sound, but subdued.

The performance exhaust bypass valves are vacuum operated, so if you go past 50% throttle they default to open and bypass the muffler. It is loud. Or if you hit the raccoon eyes button, it is loud.

Also, beware of the 2,000 - 1,500 rpm deceleration drone. Not all have it, but that is very annoying. Mine has it and it sucks.

Thanks for your reply ag4ever. I apologize that I'm not mod literate as my 2008 Sahara is still totally stock except for the front & rear bumpers. However, I just read that the Willys 392, which is the one I might be buying, has the "2-mode, dual exhaust system" where the driver can select the loudness of the engine/exhaust and that's what you're talking about and I understand that.

I really appreciate the extra details you gave, but regarding the "...past 50% throttle". If I gradually accelerate past 50%, does the exhaust still bypass the muffler (or) only if I lean on it ?

I'm totally lost on the "2,000 - 1,500 rpm deceleration drone". Could you elaborate in layman's terms what it does exactly, and when, and what determines which 392s have it ?

Thanks again!
