First post here so be gentle!:CWL: I am a second Jeep owner, first one was a new 2008 Compass North, and on Xmas Eve our 1 year old (2021) Gladiator Rubicon (JT) was delivered. (yup I'm aware this is a Wrangler site but full of great topics for any Jeep Owner).

The newest one was driven by the female Autobody manager (Employee incentive program), and you'd swear it had no miles on it when in fact it arrived with 15,205km on the odometer. There are a few things I have discovered that make me go Hmmmm. First, what were they thinking of using (at least at this time) by using Micro fuses? The second thing is the potential hidden inside the computer(s) that would make this thing a JEEP.

I have two dealerships, but both are 50 miles (80km) away, and be darned if I am going to pay a shop rate to have them calibrate my tire size, lockers, sway bar...... so I ordered a Z Automotive Taser JL Mini (I am a retired farm and have no affiliation with any dealership of company). Sadly shipping to Rural Western Canada proved frustrating, Opening the box to find the USB port almost impossible to plug the cord into (Updating prior to standing on my head) and a USB cord that was defective wasn't a great start.

Once I had the software updated (followed instructions to the "T"), I find that a lot of my sub-menus aren't showing up. (v11.4.4) Of course this all happens on a Friday afternoon when the people at Z have taken off for the weekend. I did send an email to Scott explaining all the issues. Not saying the product is the problem, but asking if there is a possibility of it being the problem, maybe the latest version isn't playing nice with the computer, or user error.....

I can do the rudimentary stuff, but TPMS, and performance menus just aren't there. I found where they have directions to "recover" the thing, but thought I'd ask here if anyone else has had issues.

I know a lot of you are saying "why didn't you just plug it in and play?". Simple answer is I have another hobby, Astrophotography, and run my gear remotely with a couple programs that are probably the worst user interface possible, and can make it all work, even if I am not on a computer to ride herd on it.....

So Hi to all, and if you can add some input I am all ears.

@Rhinebeck01 is our Tazer expert who might be able to chime in on some of your issues.

Note that USB isn't involved in the connection to your Jeep. That connection is, however, a pain in the ass. I'd suggest buying the extension cable that's on their site.

Thanks. I could get to the SGW easy enough, and I'm aware the USB on the Taser is for updating....
The issue can be seen in the attached image.

My first thought is did you marry the Tazer to your Jeep. You won’t get the advanced menus until you do that.

That is the issue "Marry" doesn't show up in the settings menu either, only the attached images of each screen. Sorry about the image quality, I had turned the Jeep to the South so I could see the screen of my phone...

Where did you get your Tazer from? Looks like it was previously married to another vehicle, and never unmarried. ZAuto can give you a code to unmarry it, for a fee.

I have a friend whose Tazer looked a lot like yours from the dash pictures. We pulled it out and updated the firmware again and it worked fine after that.

I got it Direct from Z Automotive, it was NIB including a seal sticker. dapipp, I just was out doing what you said, no difference. I will go pull it again and change is back to the software edition it came with (stiil shows up when I plug the USB in my 'puter....

Other than that I guess I'll have to wait to hear from Scott at Z Automotive next week....

As I think about it more I believe we down revved it and then took it back up to current code. Either way you are on the correct track. Good luck.

Z seems to have adopted the Bill Gates software update philosophy, once a new update is available the old ones can’t be downloaded!

JLUR 6sp ordered 11/3/21, picked up 8/30/22
The one potential boo-boo you might be making that I can think of is that the ignition needs to be on the "ON" position, but the jeep NOT actually started and running?

Although in your photos, the "check engine" light is on and tachometer is reading zero, so I suspect this is not the case.

Ah! This is the problem. Your Tazer is incorrectly married, and needs an UnMarry key. Check page 14 of the manual:

If you receive a Tazer second-hand, or lose access to your vehicle without unmarrying your Tazer and receive the “Not VIN XXXX” error:
....(further instructions follow)...

I'm sure it's an honest mistake or glitch. Joe is well known and trusted around here, and will 100% take care of you.

Just a follow-up to my issue. Scott from Z Automotive was prompt in responding to my correspondence via e-mail. He sent a un-marry code and detailed instructions early this morning (big time-zone difference between where he is and where I am). While he didn't explain why my Taser arrived NIB previously married his goof-proof instructions got me up and running correctly.

I should explain why I purchased the Taser. I live on a rural farm. Our 4x4 vehicles are used as 4x4s, the are in no way "paved Parking Lot Queens"! Our farm is on Heavy Clay Loam soil and the only thing I know about rocks (or rock crawling) is "ROCK" is a 4 letter word beginning with an "R" and ending in "K". Keep this in mind when someone rolls a 100K Jeep on a rock face! But the reason I got the Taser is to access and fine tune the hidden features JEEP has decided to Profiteer from for hooking the vehicle up to a 'puter... and not having to make a 100 mile round-trip to do it.

Big shout out to Scott at Z Automotive for promptly helpin' me out.
