As the title says, I’m thinking about getting a Tazer JL mini but can’t make up my mind.

The thing that it can do that I’m mostly interested in the PIN code in order to drive it, obviously to prevent theft. I live in Milwaukee in a fairly decent neighborhood but I do have to park on the street because we do not have a garage.

I had a Compustar alarm in my previous vehicle and absolutely hated having a second fob on my keychain, so an alarm isn’t going to be an option either.

I don’t plan on getting 35’s or bigger because I have an 80 mile commute to work 4 days a week…so I’m going to keep my Jeep mostly stock. If I do anything as far as tire size changes I might go up from my 32’s to 33’s when the stock tires need replacing. But that always subject to change if I get a job that is closer to home.

So I can’t decide if I want to get a tazer or not. What are your opinions? Is the risk of my Jeep getting stolen high enough to warrant the expense or should I get it simply for the peace of mind?

As much as I love the Tazer, for your needs, I would not purchase one. PIN lock alone is not worth the cost. Besides, if someone wants your vehicle bad enough, they'll find a way to get it. PIN lock will not prevent the vehicle from being put up on a flatbed and hauled away. Yes, it happens more often than you'd think.

I'd been looking at them and when they introduced the PIN feature that's what finally made me decide to get one. It does other things like activate the alarm if the hood is opened, set auto stop to last setting, automatically turn on pass seat heat when driver seat comes on, disable seat belt ding, disable auto park and many more. I have a stock rubicon and won't use many of the features but I have found it useful and worth the $$. I'm considering getting one for the wife sport.

The primary reason I am thinking about it is the PIN code feature but there’s a few others that would be nice to have. Disabling the three honks when getting out of the Jeep while leaving the key in is one of them.

Disabling auto-stop is another one that I wouldn’t mind having as well….I don’t have a lot of stop and go traveling but I can’t see how it actually makes a difference in fuel savings.

What is auto park? Never mind….I figured it out. Yeah that’s an annoying feature that I would have no use for. I can’t remember the last time I opened the driver’s door to get out without putting it in park first.

If your use case will be more than just the PIN lock feature, then a Tazer is worth its cost.

As I mentioned above, purchasing a Tazer for just the one feature is not worth the cost.

I got it for the boost gauge (turbo) and it remembers where I left the auto stop switch.
